Default Using a 8310 in the Bahamas

First of all, is it possible? Both phone calls and texting. I have the unlimited data/texting plan with AT&T. Is the 8310 considered a "world phone"? Will I be looking at horrendous roaming charges?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Yes it is a "world" phone. You will have find out what the actual roaming rates are for the bahammas. For data you will need the intl BB plan which requires 1 year contract

I live in the Bahamas and have the 8310.

Yes you can use your blackberry in the Bahamas. Yes there will probably be astronomical charges for roaming. I would stick to just data while you're here.

If you need anything else from a local let me know.

Thanks muddasick.
How do txt messages fit into this? Are they considered data? I do not have the Int'l data plan just the regular unlimited BB plan.

I went to the Bahamas last month and used my BB without incident. I was able to send and receive txt without a problem. I wasn't able to make any calls as lines there are very congested, but I was able to receive calls. As for as the rates, I really cannot tell you as my company pays for the bill and they have not stated I went over or had any crazy roaming charges.

Thanks krmtdfrg25. My company pays for my bill as well and this is a company sponsored trip. Sounds like I should be in good shape.

krmtdfrg,
Do you have the Int'l data plan or just the regular unlimited data plan?
