after trying all the ota links i could find and spending a couple of days with the program i think i got it figured it out....i think most of my problem was that i didnt realize that ANYTHING you do to turn on the screen stops bbalerts.....i thought it continued to remind until the message was read or the call log was opened....so i think i got a handle on it now...i am using v1.41...should i be using v1.5 for the pearl?...only thing left for me to make this program perfect is - i would like the ability to make the led blink at idle (like previous disscussion about the idle orange light).
any ideas when we will have this ability?
.....thank you
scott

Default Download fails

I'm unable to do an OTA from any of the links to my 8130. I get a failure on every attempt. How are you guys getting this thing to download to your BB. I've used BB Alerts for years on all be BB's and might have to go back to an old unit to keep the feature if I can't figure this one out

I used this link. I basically emailed it to myself, and clicked on it. I downloaded it and when it was done, I pulled the battery for a few the presto. No problems at all. Not sure what else to say. Here ya go...

Which of these is best for the Curve? I'm actually running 1.4 (not even 1.41). Does it make any difference? 1.4 is working fine but am I missing out on functionality? 1.60 locked it up like a drum.

If I remember correctly, 1.6 will lock up after you launch it as you need to manually adjust the permissions to allow the app to access the call logs. It did not prompt for it. At least I had to do this with my 8100 w/1.6.

But the functionality for all these versions, on a Curve, is presumably the same?

I can't comment on the Curve, but 1.6 I believe introduced notification for BB Messenger. All pretty much the same though.

Default Latest versions, release notes

I'm running BBAlerts 1.4 on AT&T 8800, but thinking I should upgrade to a newer version (1.41? 1.6?). Is this smart? Are there release notes/known bugs list available for each version?

Does the v1.6 now start automatically like v1.49 does?
I'm getting a new 8310 today (have been using the 8820) and am wondering if the v1.6 is ready to use on the new 8310.

Is it as stable as the v1.49?

I'm trying to find an OTA link for the Pearl 8100. Does anyone know where I can find that? So far the ones on this thread that I've tried haven't worked.

Yep that is what mine did too. If you pull the battery and reboot and go to

Options > Advanced Options > Applications and select Select BB Alerts 1.6.

Bring up menu screen and choose "Edit Permissions"

If you expand "Connections" and scroll down to "Phone" and change this option to "Allow" and save you should be able to launch BBAlerts again and configure.

This worked for me.

Good luck!
