Please Login to Remove!

I have downloaded the latest version of Desktop Manager 4.3. I have installed and down everything I am suppose to. I can sync my outlook addresses but I would like to add some ringtones. Is this possible with the 8700C because mine does not have media card in it. Can someone please help me.

Thanks,
Jeff

You can add ringtones with the DM/Roxio of your 8700 has the 4.2 OS on it.

I have tried it and all it says is that there is no device connected. I have rebooted my pc and this did not help. I have connected the usb to the phone and then started up Desktop manager and this did not help. I have just tried to open my computer and try and locate the phone, but with out a media card I don't think this will work. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jeff

I recommend uninstalling Desktop Manager 4.3 and installing Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2. There have been lots of issues with 4.3.

Also, do you have OS 4.2 installed on your BB? Look in Options >About.

This is what I have v4.1.0.194 (Platform 2.0.0.90)
How do I update to the newest version if I don't have internet access on my phone?
I will uninstall v4.3 and install Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2.

Thanks,
Jeff

I can 100% guarantee that a media card is not required. As JC suggested, make sure you have 4.2.1

No DM makes no difference. You need handheld software 4.2.1. See the sticky at the top of the 8700 forum for install instructions.

After you get DM 4.2 SP2 installed follow the instructions in the first post of this thread. You might read through it to know what else will change with the 4.2.1 upgrade. At the bottom of the first post is a link to the previous OS upgrade thread which may reveal a lot more useful info on the 4.2.1 OS upgrades.

PerfectStorm, I recommended he go back to DM 4.2 SP2 because of the issues surrounding the current release of DM 4.3.

You're the boss! I haven't had any issues with it, but you're right, many have

I got it working. This is what I did:

I uninstalled DM 4.3 and installed DM 4.2.2, I also upgraded my OS from 4.1.0.194 (platform 2.0.0.90) to 4.2.1.101 (platform 2.3.0.81) and everything is working now.

Questions:
1. Are there any good themes for this phone, if so can I just download them from here and how hard is it to install them? I just don't like what came with this download.

2. How about ringtones and pictures, do I just find them in the Media Manager software and drag them to the bottom box?

3. Also, is this a good version to upgrade to or is there something better out there?

Thanks,
Jeff
