Smile New Opera Mini 4 Installation Problems

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone got the new Opera Mini 4 final version to work on their 8320? I installed it and select yes for low-level connection, and yes for access the network but the browser keeps telling me Failed to connect to the Internet.

My TCP settings are correct: wap.voicestream.com

I gave up and went back to the beta version which works perfect and connects with no problems. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Mine installed and will access the internet, but it continues to ask every time I open the program and visit the first site if I want to allow the low-level network connection.

Other than that, it works fine.

Are you downloading the high memory or low memory version?

When I goto to www.operamini.com it just ask if I want to download the Opera Mini (US English).

I only got the option to download the low memory or high memory version when I try to download the beta version for Opera Mini. The new Opera Mini 4 does not give an option for low or high memory.

Thanks.

Did you do the battery pull while the phone is still on? I have seen that posted many times about Operamini.

Wow thanks gadgetjunkies, I pulled the battery out and it works now.

Just a note, it only ask me if I want to the low-level connection now. It does not ask me if I want to connect to the network.

Thanks again for your help and have a great day.

Thats interesting because i have been having the same problem and have mine set up exactally like the OP, yet even after a battery pull and allowing all permissions etc... it doesnt complete the installation and says Failed to connect to the Internet. I dont even know where i can download the older beta versions and i really would like Opera Mini on my phone. I have tried under almost every conition... UMA, EDGE, max signal with both. and always the same thing. Very frustrated. Any help would be GREATLY appriciated.

Thanks,
Sal

Default I also have problems there.

I was using opera 4 beta two without problems. Version 3 doesnt work and when i upgraded beta 3 or final version 4 do not work on mine. It continues to say that there was a failure to connect. I am not sure how to get it to work but i had the old beta 2 working ok.

It looks like it is narrowed down to the 8320's ... so anyone have beta 2 until this bug is fixed for us? :(

Update: My Opera Mini Version 4 now works like a charm. I called T-Mobile BlackBerry tech Support. The rep sai I just need to have "wap.voicestream.com" in the APN. He said to leave the "Username & Password" blank. It now works.

Enter wap.voicestream.com in the APN settings
The APN number is under options>advanced options>TCP

this worked for my blackberry pearl 8100

Holy Crap! I got it to work!

I did a wipe, battery pull, re-installed the beta version (deleting, re-install and battery pull was doing nothing for me, even with the correct APN setting).

Before I ran the app (at the "App. successfully installed, Ok/Run" screen), I set all the application permissions (some were set at "Custom" for some reason) to "Allow".

Ran the app (at low level connection), got a "Forbidden/upgrade" screen, but selected "Get Link" on the BB menu, and voila!

Yay! I have my beloved Opera back!!

*EDIT*

Okay, so at the top of the beta version, they have an "upgrade link" to OM4, so I upgraded, did the same set application permissions thing (again there were some set at "Custom") AND IT WORKED!!!

So I don't know if was the wipe or the set applications permissions that did it (or the combo), but if it worked for me, maybe it'll work for someone else.
