Default group text messaging

Please Login to Remove!

I switched form the 8703 to the 8830. On my 8830 I have the ability to add any contact to a group and send group text messages. I want to give my 8703 to a co-worker of mine. When I was messing around with it I noticed that you can only add people to a group and send group messages if they have an email address. Is there any way to fix this?

You would need to install the 4.2 OS on the 8703. The Handheld OS 4.2 allows for the use of a Group for SMS purposes. I believe the 4.2 OS was just recently released, and should be in a sticky at the top of the 8700 forum.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Does anybody know why groups that are created in a blackberry do not sync with outlook? Is there any way to do this?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

There is no field mapped from the BB to coordinate into outlook

Because BB groups are not compatible with Outlook settings, they don't have a place to "sync" to. Does that make sense?

Yea, that makes sense.

I just wish there was a way to back them up or save them.

I do believe they back up with your contacts when you do a backup, from Desktop Manager.

I wonder if they will export to a ASCII file if you used that rather than Outlook? Could be.
