Default unable to remove original 20 user CAL

Please Login to Remove!

the option to remove the 20 base license on my BES 4.1 is greyed out. anyone know what the issue is? That is the only license left on the BES I need to transfer to a new BES (there are no users on the old one).

IIRC, there needs to be at least one CAL for the server to run; hence the reason you enter a CAL during the installation. Copy the CAL information; shut down the server, and put the new CAL into the new BES. I'm assuming you're moving from one configuration database to another?

I was able to resolve the issue by running this on the server hosting my database.

osql -E
1>use BESMgmt

2>go

1>delete from licensekeys

2>go

1>quit

Yes I was moving from database to another.

Well that'll certainly do it, not quite sure why you needed to though.

Huh? ... but why would you need to remove them if moving to a new database? Since you're dumping the database anyway why would you bother to clean it out ... just DROP it. I don't get it I guess.
