For me, it'd be nice to just scroll to hightlight an item, and quickly see it's details.

You could also add a hot key, say, the "op" key, to toggle the Preview Pane on/off. That way, you wouldn't even have to reduce how many to-do's are displayed... toggle the Preview Pane off, you'd have, say, 15 or 16 tasks displayed, toggle the Preview Pane on, and it would be reduced to 13 or 14, but dispaly critical info on the highlighted item.

Thoughts?

I am not a beta tester (yet) but I think this preview pane is an awesome idea.

Also, I read through this thread, and maybe I missed it, but does this program sync with your tasks from Outlook? It needs to. And if it does, does it make corrections for task due dates so that your current tasks don;t show up as overdue if you ar ein a different time zone than your BES is located? That would make me buy the program in a heartbeat. It is displaying 09-1 for a To Do which is due Sept. 19th. The 9 is cut off. Same with other To-Do dates....

As far as color, while the red text (High Priority) is displayed, the green text (Low Priority) is pretty hard to differentiate from the Black (normal priority) font.

Here is one that would get me to buy in a minute. Below is a link to a utility that I used on my Palm for years called ReDo. What it did was allowed you to set up a list of recurring tasks and it would add them as new individual tasks at a user defined interval.

Lets say for example you did a weekly report for work and it was due on Monday. You could set up a task in ReDo called "Submit Weekly Report"
The task could be set up to be due on Monday and you could add it whatever number of days in advance you wanted. So I could add it on Saturday to the task list so I would see it was there a couple of days in advance. The program sat in the background and would wake up at midnight each day and add the tasks at that time.

The real magic of this application is that the individual tasks sync properly between the mobile device and the Palm and hopefully something similar would work for the Blackberry. This has been my major limitation with using the Blackberry for task management is that I cannot mark recurring tasks as complete on my BB without it messing up the recurrence, especially if I am a day late on the task one week or month.

Let me know if it can be done! It would be awesome.

Just an update, I changed the theme my Pearl is using, and now the date shows up correctly.

It must have something to do with which font the system is using, and I guess certain themes change the font selection.

the program needs to be able to show the overduetasks that you haven't marked complete. say, bold face it, or change the color, italicize, or something to show that it is overdue and not completed.
it just gets rid of them after the time and you have to show mark complete to see the overdue tasks.
