Default Problems with UMA switching back and forth to EDGE

Please Login to Remove!

Hey, has anyone else experienced problems with their 8320 switching back and forth from UMA to EDGE (wifi to cell tower)? It could be a signal thing, but even when I'm right on top of the wifi router, I will sometimes have to turn off my cell radio and force the phone to only use wifi. You shouldn't need to turn off your cell radio to make it use wifi, especially when I have the wifi preffered feature selected.

I am having similar issues where UMA comes and goes randomly throughout the day while I am within 10 feet of the router.

Wirelessly posted (8100: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

i think iphones had similar issues, might have something to do with the radios/conflict of interest maybe ?

This would be interesting to see what the problem might be.

You may be right. I'm sure RIM gave the cell radio preference, but even when you have a weak wifi signal, there should be a way that you could make it use wifi, without having to disable the cell radio.
