Default VZW Curve, Any Updates???

Please Login to Remove!

We have all seen the pics of the Pearl (2)? coming some time in November for VZW, but I am surprised that we have not heard / seen any leaks on the Curves potential arrival status...

I know this is typical of VZW, realeasing a phone light years after everyone else, but I was hoping to at least have a target date or some leaked pics by now...

Anyone else out there as bored as I am???

Q1 2008 on VZW; Q2 2008 on Sprint. If you want further details, they are not concrete nor should you think of them being reliable (heck, the above ones are only estimates/plans by the carriers). The release code should be OS 4.3.1, as it's being tested on them now. That better?

Default Camera?

I assume the VZW model is expected to be a cameraberry?

Is VZW getting the plain Curve 8300 that has been out for a while now? Or are they getting one of the new models with WIFI or GPS? And which one? Tmobile and AT&T will be getting their NEW Curves soon.

I think you can forget about both WIFI and GPS from Verizon.

We'll be lucky if it even has a camera

Don't expect it to have anything GPS related other then VZ Navigator as soon as VZW figures out how to get it working. They are experts are crippling the GPS on devices already. I'll be surprised if it has WiFi since they can't control that 100% and we know they love to be in control of everything.

I agree and hate it but unfortunately I'm stuck with them right now. It would cost too much to port 4 family phone numbers over to AT&T and get 3 new phones and 1 new curve for me at this point in time with us being on the family plan.

As soon as I win the lotto then I can do it but until then I just bite my lip and deal with it.

If you are sick and tired of getting outdated stuff all of time time, go with AT&T. Sprint is always late too, but not as much as Verizon. The one with the most up to date and current stuff is AT&T.

Of course. That's how they make up for having such a cruddy network. I never had a problem with dropped calls until I went to Cingular (excuse me, AT&T [again]). I left a year ago and haven't had one since.

As a wild guess the WiFi will work as VZW has turned on the WiFi in the other PDAs they sell. Also it is highly unlikely the camera will be turned off. On the other hand expect MMS and GPS to be monkeyed with.

Camera - Yes
GPS - Yes*
WiFi - No
GSM Roaming - No

* VZW cripples GPS; will be enabled by Sprint

When you are in an area without EVDO coverage, your voice, data and e-mail continue on the WiFi. Biggest improvement for me, personally.
