Default bb 8800 charging problems

Please Login to Remove!

I have a BB 8800 that has a damaged usb socket. (Click here for a Mini-USB Pin Location diagram)pin 4 got bent and it is now smashed against the back of the socket housing. I am unable to charge the BB via AC outlet or Car charger but I am able to charge it with my computer. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way that I could re wire the ac outlet so it to would charge my BB. I tried soldering pins x and 4 together but that didn’t do the trick.

Thanks

You could possibly do more damage than you have already. I would replace the device or charge it with the computer. That being said, there has to be pin out information on the web somewhere. Did you try google?

I linked a website that does have the blackberry mini usb pin information on it. i figured that the usb was working because it said that pin "x" can sometimes be used as a ground. my next thought was that the phone could be charging through the data pins. I can still transfer data to the phone also.

Scratch this request. My phone turned off and will no longer turn on. I am assuming something is shorting out. Tomorrow I will try to solder a new miniplug onto the board

I have the same issue with BB8800 rogers. It will charge only with Data Cable connected to PC. I tried several car/home chargers nothing works.

Please suggest.

Certain chargers won't work as the BB needs a trigger to turn the internal charging circuit on. I made a charging cable that will charge from any USB PC or any USB style desktop oc car charger.

I'll do some testing on my test cables to see if there is another pin that will give you a negative, have you tried the outer shell of the USB cable??

Check out my cable, it might help.
