Default Email Settings (formerly Redirector) Missing from Desktop 4.2

Please Login to Remove!

I need to enable what used to be called the Redirector. I've never used it before. For a longtime, I just set a rule on my mailserver that all email to my office email acct was copied intact to my @mycingular.blackberry.net account. Mail showed up on the phone just like it was sent from the original sender with no interim stops. It was great. Except for the spam. Then I got Inboxer which includes a feature to send only the non-spam mail to my blackberry. It worked great for a while, then I started having many problems and Inboxer's support just sucks, sucks, sucks.

So anyway, after years of being a Blackberry owner, I finally need to install the email forwarding thingy which used to be called Redirector. I am running Desktop 4.2.1.8 and I understand that what was once Redirector should now be called Email Settings under Desktop. Only I have no "Email Settings" icon on my Blackberry Desktop. How do I enable it?

You likely didn't install Desktop Manager properly. During install it asks you what type of installation you want. Desktop Redirector/BES or BIS. Your Desktop Manager is out of date anyway. I suggest updating to the current one and installing for Redirector/BES.

BES = Blackberry Enterprise Somethingsomething?
BIS = Blackberry Internet Somethingsomething?

I definitely do not have Blackberry Enterprise Server.

BES=Blackberry Enterprise Server
BIS=Blackberry Internet Service.

Install the Desktop software for Redirector/BES (it's the same install, I believe)

I'm not an expert on Redirector as I've never used it.

You can only install the BES / Redirector version if you have Microsoft Exchange Server, Lotus Domino Server, etc. If you only have a plain vanilla SMTP/POP3 mailserver, you must install BIS and there seems to be no Redirector part of it.
