Default BIS email problem - can send but not receive.

Please Login to Remove!

I set up my Hotmail account in BIS today and am having a problem. I can send emails from my Hotmail address on my device but I can't receive them. I sent a few test emails and they all reach my Hotmail inbox but don't get pushed to the Blackberry. I know there is supposed to be a delay but they are not coming through at all. I've already tried:

-resending service books
-deleting account in BIS and re-adding, then resending service books
-pulling battery
-going to Host Routing or whatever in Advanced Options and clicking register, then resetting (i read this suggestion in a thread on here)
-checking to make sure i dont have any filters set up and that email is set to go to the device.
-testing my @*.blackberry.net address (works fine)

Any suggestions??

I can't help with a solution, but I have also noticed that my incoming hotmail crapped out around 7 EST last night and hasn't come back. My other BIS accounts are fine.

its not the free hotmail right? I read in here that you need the upgraded version $19.95 for it to be able to be pushed. And even then I think people still have issues with hotmail.

I've been using my free account with BIS for about a year and a half. This is the first issue I've had

I know perfect storm you are in this thread but for others it could be helpful.
Very strange that hotmail has such mixed results.

Right now I'm more concerned with the lack of functionality for those of us who have it working than the inconsistency of availability.

It seems to be an issue between the BIS servers and Hotmail. Could be just about anything.

They probably had the servers down for maintenance!

You should note that RIM does their maintenance during the 1am EST time frame. I noticed your email came at 2am, I am assuming EST. There is a very good chance that the servers were down for maintenance during then.

Actually, I just sent myself an e-mail to my AOL account about 20 minutes ago and it still hasn't come through. Praise Allah I don't use them for my main account.

The problem is with the RIM/BB system. I have the same proble. I called AT&T customer support, and they called RIM support, since they where getting a lot of calls. The problem is that RIM system is lousing the PIN number of your device. You have to log into your BB e-mail account and enter your PIN and device number. Once you do this your e-mail will start working. I have had to do this once each day, since Friday. I called today, and they have no ET on when the problem will be fixed.

If you accessing outlook express to download hotmails tthen pls check the option is I mentioned here ,

Go to Tools-> Accounts->Select the existing mail id in view and change format -> properties->Advance->Tick mark the option "Leave acopy in server"
Then check by sending mails ...........

In October, Blackberry tech support just added a new resolution on their site that was never there before. This causes a problem with some Hotmail accounts for some reason. This corrected the problem a friend of mine was having also:
Cause 2

The BlackBerry smartphone is configured to display Last name, First name in the Language options.

Resolution

Change the display name configuration on the BlackBerry smartphone by completing the following steps:

1. Go to Options > Language.
2. For the Name Display field, change the option to First name Last name.
3. Save the changes.
Hope that helps...
