Default battery life

Please Login to Remove!

I've had my 8830 on BM for about a month and battery life has gotten steadily worse. Is there anything that I can do to increase it or should I just try and return the device to BM? Fyi I have bluetooth off, media player not running in background and gps off.

Thanks for the tips.

Return to the device to BM?

Try letting the BB power cycle to about 10-15% a few days in a row (or 2-3 times in a row), and charging to a complete 100% each time.

After that, top off the battery any opportunity you get--ten minutes here and there during the day. This battery is meant to be topped off, not drained each cycle.

This is my 6th Blackberry. I know a bad apple when I see one. Question is whether there is something wrong with the device or is just the battery.

Listen,

If you had 6 blackberries and know that battery is bad, then why even and ask? Take it back, its under warranty. Don't waste server space.

With such an issue it's hard to determine whether it's the battery that's bad or the device... without swapping in a known good battery.

If there's something wrong with the radio and the device is constantly re-establishing the connection, your battery will blow out fast. I've seen this on a Palm 755.

Default Try Logical Troubleshooting

Suggestion is to turn off radio for a day and see if battery still drains down. If so it is battery. If not then you have a CDMA related issue, either bad local coverage or 8830.

Have you updated your OS to latest version? I understand that some radio issues were addressed.

If it's a bad apple, return it. You know one when you see one.
