The dictionary is full of adjectives; did you really have to pick "gay" to describe this?

Was T6 the only size screwdriver that you need to replace the keyboard?

ok, hopefully i can answer a few questions.

the install was fairly easy, i just followed the instructions in the sticky at the top of the forum. the step by step pictures make it very easy to do. the sticky says you need a t6 drive but i used a t5 that i had laying around from when i took apart my treo. having a can of compressed air is also a good idea otherwise i can almost guarantee dust on your screen when you reassemble your bb.

the package came with a pry tool and also a torx screwdriver. i'm not sure what size torx it is but it's too big.

on the front faceplate, on the inside there is a plastic piece covering the screen. i didnt notice it until i had the whole thing assembled.

after using it for a day, i have noticed that some keys feel "tight." i noticed this as well right after i had the whole thing together but when i opened it up again to remove the plastic piece and put it together again the left side of the keypad became "looser." i plan to open up the housing again and fiddle with it a little to try to get the right side the same. i'm almost positive this is due to installation and not a problem with the keypad itself. (if anyone has any experience in this, i'd love some tips)

if i missed any questions, let me know

Last time I checked the dictonary "Gay" was defined as Happy, or Joyous.

Can someone confirm what color shines through the keys now? Is it still blue or white?

What does that mean? You're the only one that can answer that if you really think that things can and can't "look gay".

AFAIK keypads don't have moods or sexual preferences. And if you're concerned about falling into some stereotype in your head then you probably shouldn't get too fixated on color schemes...

I'm very happy that the keypad light is white. The blue light is terrible...

@ chrisxxx- how is your post in any way pertaining to the subject of the original post, oh yeah, its not. You brought up a month old post for what reason??? If you are not going to post anything of value, then your post is as worthless as the one which you are mocking.

That is strange. I have the original color keypad (which looks black to me) on my Cingular 8800 and I have no problem at all reading the keys in the dark. Am I missing something here?

BTW, thanks for that link. The company has some really cool stuff I have not seen anywhere else.
Verizon has a retarded silver and blue back light keys takes time to get used to but it is a hard keyboard to get used to. And see.

Edit: pic's pls

There must be a few different version of the 8830 cause mine is all black and the back ground lighting on my is all white not blue. My keyboard is black as well. It's just like a dark chrome on the sides as the only different color. I love how it looks tho..

Hmm the white LED keys are tempting. My vzw 8830 is nice but I might have to go check out a black one in person. Is the case identical aside from the carriers logo on the bottom front near the space key?

Just ordered the full black housing and keyboard to replace the AT&T "blue" housing on my 8800. My original battery door broke, and the black one I had as a replacement now makes the handset look silly. Plus now, I can REALLY tell that the rest of the phone is not black.

Also ordered a cheapo cell phone opener tool, and a nice T6 screwdriver.

I would appreciate advice from anyone who has done a complete housing replacement for anything specific that I should make sure to do and/or not do.

Here is my fully replaced ATT/cingular 8800 with black housing and keypad. Follow the instruction from the sticky. The only scary part is the chrome side rails have double sided tape along the top portion but you have to slide the side rails up and over the top tabs. Sorry, kinda difficult to explain. Luckily you'll have 2 sets of side rails in case one breaks, if you've ordered a full housing set.

I guess this is what an 8830 from verizon would look like too. It's got the verizon theme installed.

Thanks, just a quick question. Does it feel as "tight" as the original caseing? Pretty much does it feel like the original body felt or are some parts wiggly and looks unprofessional?
