Default Can you uninstall the BB browser

Please Login to Remove!

Is there a way to uninstall the BB browser? I don’t know if you could edit an .alx to uninstall it, and I wasn't sure if there OS required the browser in order to run properly.

Thanks!

I have tried that... When I go into the application loader the checkbox beside it is gray and it will not allow me to uncheck it.

I have tried that also and no go...

I want to delete it because my network does not support BB's so what is the point of having it running in the background all the time, also it would free up more memory. I use opera mini instead. Also my thoughts with opera mini is that when you try to download something with opera mini, bb browser takes over and the bb browser is not installed maybe i could download with opera mini(probably will just give me an error instead). I was just curious if there was a way to delete it.

I don't think Opera Mini allows downloads. To my knowledge, anything that needs to be downloaded over the air needs to be done with the BB Browser.

Regardless of whether it will allow me to download or not, I still would like to remove the BB browser

I deleted the net_rim_bb_browser.cod file and it screwed up my BB and I had to reinstall everything... This will be a long process for me to go through and delete each file under the java folder and see what happens... Any ideas on what i need to do would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks

You might try contacting RIM support to see if it is possible, though. But they probably have it greyed out from being uninstalled in the Desktop Manager for a reason. What reason, I don't know.

I tried to contact RIM and they told me that I need to go to my service provider for technical support. Guess I am back to trial and error...

I don't understand why anyone would want to delete the BB Browser. It could only make things worse, and I don't understand any positve result.
