I was in a resturaunt today for lunch and there was not a good signal. When I went outside the wireless was off. Any ideas on what happened?

My 8700g actually did this early this morning, around 2:00A. I am with T-Mobile. But mine went right back on after that. It was only disabled for like 10 seconds. I watched it as it went from EDGE to edge, then GSM, then OFF, and then back to GSM then EDGE.

The latest fw and tmobile. Maybe it would have turned back on if I had waited a bit.

Wireless can turn itself off if the battery is very low.

Turning off because of a weak/non-existent signal is not a feature as far as I know. Maybe it's a mixed up icon? Or maybe some new firmware was pushed out which required a radio reset.

Same thing happened to me yesterday with my 8300. Prior to the Curve, I had a 8700c for a little over a year and I can't recall this odd event ever happening. I'll try to keep my an eye open to see if it's something I did to trigger the shut off.

I haven't used the 8xxx devices. Is there a setting in which you can specify when to turn the radio on and off? There is one for power on/off. An old Sony-Eric had a radio feature like this.

My Curve has done this also. Very annoying. Luckily it doesn't happen that often, but it does seem to only occur for me in areas where I have a poor signal.

My curve was doing this, as well as not registering with blackberry. I was able to recive and send texts, and make phone calls... but no emails and no internet. I was using the latest os, the one at the top of this forum. I reloaded the software and it connected for a day... then it went back to lowercase edge and my internet and emails went away again... i downgraded back to the att os, and it seems to be working fine again... oh yeah and the radio would be off three or four times a day. I discovered that it usualy turned itself off after a phone call... anyways, just thought i would share.

how do you get the os that came with the device??? Is it on a disk somewhere in the original box??? I have all my original documentation and everything, I'll have to look through it. My 8700g has been doing the same thing, I notice it happening after I get off a phone call or once I send out an email, it will just drop the wireless connection, and not turn it back on. I never noticed this problem until I started playing with the 4.2 os versions that kept popping up, I am assuming it has something to do with those versions.

My original t-mobile version never did it, and my first upgrade to cingulars .377 upgrade never did it either...

i dont think device software is included on the cdroms that come w/ the blackberry. I think they are only availible from RIM.
