If it's not doable, let us know and we can stop dreaming. ;)

No Alerts should not be too hard, i'll work it into the next release. Maybe in 3-4 weeks. I think that other led alerts like bluetooth or coverage indicator might interfere though. Next release I want to add filtering to cover off level and BB Messenger (sorry can't add other IM programs).

FYI if you SMS yourself the program will think it is a voicemail since some carriers send voicemail alerts as an SMS coming from your phone number.

Thanks for the good product and support. What do you mean when you say "filtering to cover off... BB Messenger"? I for one could really use a BB Messenger alert. For now I just look for a red (default) LED and know that must be a calendar, task, or Messenger alert (since I have set BB Alerts to avoid red).

My apologies for mistakenly calling you Logan! That was due to my ignorance of names vs. aliases around here.

I just ordered and installed the software and when my device rebooted.. After the security tests pass, I get the following error:

Uncaugh exception:
java.lang.NullPointerException

Any ideas how to correct this?

High priority is not level 1 messages, it is the priority of the email (low, normal, high) in outlook you see a red exclamation mark for high priority.

Popup on notification just means if the program should come to the foreground when it triggers its first audible alert; otherwise it just sits in the background.

I have an 8100 and BBA version 1.5 and I'm having the opposite problem. Voicemails are LED alerting green (when I have VM set to red and SMS set to green). Alert log shows them as green and SMS's. Kinda weird. Never did this until iupdate the OS to 4.2.1.101

This is what's really bugging me about the LED alerts. They will flicker way too fast as if the GREEN signal LED is trying to flash, but suddendly getting turned off for the Alerts LED to kick in. It does this for a couple of seconds then the Alerts LED take over with normal operation. Very irritating.

This is with the default settings (1 sec ON, 1 sec OFF, no pause)

Not that this helps your peeve at all, but I have my settings at:

Flash On = .3 sec
Flash Off = 3 sec
Pause Time = 1 sec
Colour Mode = Color Cycle

I'm happy with the blinking rate at those settings.

Flash for .3? So less than a second spark and then a 3 second pause (no visual) right?

Yeah, that's the way the settings read, but it doesn't seem to actually work that way. One would think it'd barely be seen in so short of a flash but it looks fine to me.

Same sorta thing as the RGB for custom colours. One would think that using the R G and B from colour charts would work with these led's but they also don't. The system is workable though, but if the true colours of the led's physically on the BB are not red, green and blue (I have no clue if they are or aren't, I haven't looked with the cover off), then of course that's why it doesn't work even though the settings are R, G and B.

Question:

I have a BB 8830. When I have a missed call, I get the missed call notification box on the screen, and it puts a missed call message in my "Messages" box. I don't get any LED flashes, even though I have the LED turned on for all messages.

Does the missed call message not count as a message?

Ah THANK YOU!! You are THE BEST!

In regards to the Coverage or BT indicators getting in the way, I have turned both mine off (so as to be consistent.) I am sure users of the 'No New Alerts' setting would be fine with also leaving those OS settings off to allow 'No New Alerts' setting to function propperly.

Thanks again, I am really excited! I am going to try and get some people at work hooked on this porgram too.

I rarely use Bluetooth, but for those rare times that I have my BT headset on, it's unlikely I need to be alerted of anything. But I do use the green coverage led because... um, because... ah... it's a placeholder for the No Alerts flash (strobe light conditioning 'n all), yeah that's it, hehe.

I've never had network coverage problems except in my basement, so I can certainly trade off the green blinking led -- which seems to start and stop randomly anyways.

As an aside note, I've bought several 3rd party applications for my BB over the past few months (BBAlerts was my first purchase the day the phone arrived), and if any new app conflicts with BBAlerts, it's outta there.

You can download the trial from here:

BlackBerry Alerts by BByMel - Handango BlackBerry 8800 Software

I don't know if there is an OTA version available (I prefer file downloads over OTA myself; since I'm not on an unlimited data plan and I like to have backup archives).

Look at the bottom of the overview page for the trial DL link. Registration is $12.95.

Your screen wakes up when you get the txt, but that's not BBAlerts waking it up. If you don't see it right away, your screen goes back to sleep. BBAlerts is more for notifying you of what you missed; or at least that's the way I think of it.

The app does not work on my 8800 AT&T. It has the newest AT&T software on it, and the app is installed on the device. But I cannot launch the app. Nothing happens when I try to launch the app.

What are the application permissions set at? I believe it uses phone logs, requires access to profiles, etc. My settings for Blackberry Alerts are all at Allow except keystroke injection, browser filters and security timer reset, which is at deny, and location and carrier internet are set to prompt.

My 8800 is a Cingular branded BB, currently running on the .101 OS but ran with the previous two OS's who's numbers I can't remember offhand.

This is a bug in the latest version that appears to occur somewhat randomly, remove battery and reinsert to reboot BlackBerry; will be fine after that.

Now the problem has gotten worse.. The application does not load, it just locks up on the "Please allow 2-4 seconds for app to load" screen. I ended up removing the application since it didn't work for me.

Notification on device load:
Uncaugh exception:
java.lang.NullPointerException

Issue: BBAlerts does not load

I went to the logs and on the exception error, I got the following details:

Name: NullPointerException
GUID: 9c3cd62e3320b498
Time: Jul 20, 2007 07:55:09

Steps taken so far:
  • Performed both Soft/Hard Resets
  • Removed Battery
  • Reinstalled Application - Problem Persists

I'm not sure if that gives you any more information as to why this is happening or if its enough information to fix this issue. Again, I'm on Alltel 8703e v4.1

Any assistance with this is appreciated.

Where did you get this version of the OS? On Monday I downloaded the OS from AT&T site and it only installed v4.2.1.79
