Default HURRAY Finally online.. but i have an inbox question

Please Login to Remove!

Well O2UK finally pulled their finger out and im online on the pearl.

Got all my email addresses added and can see the new inboxes for emails which is great... BUT.. how can i stop them also showing in the general messages folder.. or can i create a new separate inbox for SMS? basically i et lots of email and SMS and dont want to have to trawls through emails to find the SMS.

i can separate the email so surely i can separate the SMS somehow??

thanks

This is covered a lot in these forums. You can't -- everything arrives in Messages.

Check Messages->Options->General Options and see if there's an option there to separate SMS.

hmm thats really annoying.

wonder if someone can write some funky code so you can view a separate sms inbox like you can view the separate email boxes

Do you have the option Takeshi suggested?

And while in your main message folder, pressing ALT + S brings up only SMS messages.

I had the same question and it seems I get the my hotmail emails to "messages", which houses my text messages and to my "hotmail" folder.
I have them TWICE.

If you figure it out, let me know...

i did check the options and there was nothing obvious that would filter out emails in the main message folder

is this perhaps something fixed by the later OS versions?

hmm i definately think its something the BB pearl needs and im supprised you cant already do it.

Takeshi, did you ask because you have that option yourself?

Jsanders, do you have the option?

Im not a programmer myself but if people are coming up with all these other handy apps then surely someone could code a dedicated sms inbox?

Search? I speak for myself and I have! It's easy to assume everyone is as knowledgeable with their BB as you are Cory and if we had found the answer as easily as you think then we wouldn't have posted a thread! My time is valuable and don't post for the sake of not having a life.
I post because I have a genuine question that I am unable to find or just don't understand the bb lingo.
So no offense but don't assume anything.

It's obvious you know your stuff but having just purchased my BB, I don't and I will ask!
You have any medical questions you want to ask me? I won't ask you to search for the remedy.

sorry but no offense,
Rolo

actually i have only had my pearl for like 2 weeks. and before that i had a 7105t which i never used, so i dont know much about them first hand.

i know most of what i know but coming on here and just reading and searching,

and yes there were times i had to ask questions to get answers, sorry if i seemed rude it was not my intention at all, it just seems like over the past 3 days, alot of newbies have been coming on here and posting questions about things that have been talked about over and over again, all they had to do was search for a few minutes and they would find it.

anyways sorry if i was rude or seemed that way.

Yes, I have that option on my 8800... it becomes available with a certain update of OS version 4.2, I don't remember which. I know some Pearls have that option, too, on an upgraded OS, so that might be a reason to update, since I think I recall you asked that question a couple of days ago.

SMS only is also available on the Zen theme.

Jedi KNights should already know all this, right?

A "downgrade" or rollback is about the same as an upgrade. Uninstall the new OS off the PC, and install the old version on the PC. The next time you plug up the USB to the BB - PC, you will be told there is a version difference, asked if you want to downgrade.

And you can always wipe and reload the old OS...

I believe it is Zen icon theme?

If you are on OS version (options > About: line starting with "v...") Version 4.2.1 you should have that option above to separate the folders.

Messages >Options >General Options....scroll to the bottom.

It is available on the latest version of the Pearl (4.2.1.101). In Messages, go to Options, General Options and the last option is "SMS and Email Inboxes" with options of "Theme Controlled", "Combined" and "Seperate". If you select "Seperate" it will create a new icon called "SMS and MMS".

I recommend upgrading if this is a real issue for you.
