Default Any Blackberry Insurance?

Please Login to Remove!

I am currently through AT&T and have Insurance on all my phones. I called Lockline (Insurance Company For AT&T) and they told me that they do not cover any type of Blackberry's or Treo type phones & PDA's. I am just wondering if anyone out there knows a company that will let give you Insurance on your device? All suggestions are welcome!

Coreyg,

You need to call Cingular and take the insurance off your account. The Blackberry's as well as Treo's, PocketPC PDAs and the Motorola Razr are not covered at all. There are a few others as well...

Whether these devices are covered or not isn't based on price, its based on the value of the handset.

I can add insurance to anyones account, but that doesn't mean they cover it. This was a mistake by whomever put it on your account.

"SOMETIMES" depending on the insurance company you can get a special exclusion on your homeowners/renters insurance policy to cover something like this. But usually it needs to be valued over $500 or so. Just all depends, call around...and if you have homeowners or renters insurance, call your current provider.

however, you would think a phone that cost that much would have some type of insurance

Yeah, you would think! They are "too expensive" to insure though...through Cingular anyhow. I work for Cingular and they won't cover mine either :( Just be careful...

very very careful. I can afford to buy one and pay for unlimited data and tons of voice and accessories, but i dont think i could just go out and buy another if i damaged mine

OK, sorry I was not watching the thread. I use Lockline for Insurance for all 4 of my phones but they told me that they do not offer on Treo's and BB's! I have not called AT&T because they use Lockline for that Insurance. Since I have not migrated to Cingular, I am SOL at this point.

I used to work for AT&T Wireless before the merger and its all the same. No coverage for Blackberry's, Treo's or other PDAs. Might want to look on the internet for some kind of protection package...maybe someone offers something like that. Its going to be more expensive but probably worth it. Or talk to your insurance company...who knows.

Yeah, I was kind of bummed out when I found that out. It's kinda funny, My Motorola V600 costs more than my BB and I have Insurance on it... LOL.

Another Funny Fact, you can get Road Side Assistance on your Cell Phone Plan but no Insurance... LOL.

Very true...the Roadside Assistance is pretty nice though. Just as good if not better than Triple A and some others and significantly cheaper @ only $2.99 a month.

Dunno, give the insurance provider a call or Nextel customer care and ask. I doubt it though.
