Just wondering before I try to download the beta. Can you have both the stable and the beta versions installed?

TIA,

Frank

Thanks for the tip. No need for the all caps though. Still a bug in that menu should bring up both options not just exit.

I'm back to having connection issues that I had with early betas of version 3. I'm on a BES but my company is not allowing browsing through the BES so I connect via APN. Version 3 can recognize the connection to use and works fine. I tried beta of version 4 and it can't find the right connection so unfortunately I can't use it. Hopefully a new beta will fix this.

Erm, to clarify, for those who are unfamiliar with the OS version number, this is in reference to Rogers' released 8800 OS.

I just noticed that if you press # and wait for a few seconds, the "#" menu options appear. Is this new to the beta? Same is true if you press *. For example, to answer my own question above, you can remove the title bar by pressing "**" (i.e. the asterisk button twice).

Thumbs up Maybe AJAX support??

I was just playing with it 4.0 beta and tried Digg API iPhone Interface and onetrip iphone interface site and it renders the page fine. Ajax is not working but i remember before it wouldn't even render the page. Maybe just maybe they are working on having this browser support Ajax....

I just installed this on my Curve and while I like some things it feels like the text size on small is very large compared to Opera 3. Is anyone else having this problem (and does anyone know of a solution)?

The BB Browser on the latest Cingular OS has the mouse feature and virtually an equivalent to the zoom & scroll. Which I do admit is a great feature.

I've never had to load myspace.com. Probably never will do it so that isn't really a factor for me. And as a personal opinion, I prefer the BB Browser, I keep an Opera Browser on for some sites that won't render in the BB Browser. But 98% of the time I don't need Opera.

Default Problems with Pearl

I have a Blackberry Pearl and I could not get the mini 4 beta to install on the phone. It said I failed to connect to the Internet. I had the same problem before trying to install mini 3. Anyone else had this problem?

This is not quite right. The BB browser on 4.2.1 (and higher) has the mouse feature, but not the equivalent zoom and scroll feature. On the BB browser, pages load in either "mobile" view or "desktop" view. If you want the zoom out feature that the opera browser has (i.e. view a small replica of the entire web page on your screen) you have to hit the menu button and select page overview. Then you get the mini version of the page, can scroll around, and select what to zoom in on. If you want to zoom out, you have to go back to the menu.

On the beta, web pages load in overview mode and zooming in and out is much easier.

That you're right about...I never said anything about an ease of use or an extra push of a button here and there. I just simply stated that the features are there on the BB Browser whether is easier or more difficult to use.
And the new Cingular OS is 4.2.1.96 correct?? Therefore it is on the latest Cingular OS that I currently use.
