Default Best OS version for 8100

Please Login to Remove!

Ive been poking around for a few days and cant seem to find a good answere.

What Im looking for:
Get rid of the 10 second lag between connection of a call and voice.
Able to Seperate Email messages from SMS text messages

What I want to avoid:
The double character issue when trying to dial in a number via using letters instead of numbers (frequently encountered with dialing a extension via name). The latests rogers and TIm realeases have this issue and thats a show stopper for me.

Im on T-mobile 4.2.0.64 and I dont think theyre ever going to update their OS version for the 8100.

Actually there is a new sticky thread in this forum for a new release from Cingular as of today. 4.2.1.96 is now the latest and it's by far the best release of 4.2.1 to date. I recommend that one. If you don't like the 4.2.1's then use 4.2.0.71. That was the other very stable OS.

Changing the OS will not lock the BB. However, I'm not sure changing the OS will fix your problem. Did you get the BB used? Is it possible that an IT policy on the device is preventing Bluetooth and SMS use? If so, changing the OS will not remove the IT policy.

If it's an IT policy, try this link.

Im'm using the Rogers OS with no issues, although I wasn't aware of the Cingular 4.2.1.96 until just now. John, any goodies in this one that I'm not getting with the Rogers OS?
