Default Yahoo Messenger on AT&T 8300?

Please Login to Remove!

I tried searching but didn't find anything about this. I have installed Yahoo Messenger on my new AT&T 8300 and it looks like it won't work without a service book or some setting being changed by AT&T. Has anybody tried this or gotten it working?

I did read in another section that AT&T (or Cingular or both) didn't initially enable YM on their earlier BB's. Unfortunately I never found a clear answer as to whether it was enabled later on or not. This isn't a critical thing for me but it would be nice to have it back. If I don't hear anything in a day or so I'll call support and see how confused I can get the customer service reps. ;)

I have always heard that AT&T/Cingy will not support Yahoo Messenger. I have no idea why, but I tried it even after being told it would not work and guess what......it did not work.

Very stupid.

Even with big fingers, I find it easier to type on than the 8800. I actually find a real easy to type on it, better than the 8700c.

You just need the service books. It works fine by adding the right service book manually as Cingular/ATT does not send them.

Thanks guys, not sure how I missed that in my original search, I must have used AT&T instead of Cingular. I'm going to try restoring the service book as soon as I find the normal link to my BIS to resend the other books. Currently I can only get to the BIS from my BB. I think I need to setup an account at the main AT&T website to get to it externally.
