That press release is over two years old.
It doesn't apply to the 8300.
No BlackBerry device has visual voicemail.

There is no way to get visual voicemail on the BlackBerry.
This is an enhancement that would need to be made to the carrier's network in addition to the device software.

If I'm not mistaken, AT&T is the only carrier that offers visual voicemail, and the iPhone is the only device that will make use of it.

There is no third-party software to enable this on the BlackBerry.

Well i found a couple actually, SimulSays seems to be the nicest but its a paid subscription, if anyone knows of any free ones - give me a shout

Been using it for about a month. Works pretty good. If i'm synching or my bb is off for some reason my laptop will p/u the call and I can talk to the caller that way. I also get a text message with the caller ID info.

Nope, you're right about that. I like it that I can listen to my voicemail on my laptop since I spend a lot of time in and around my office

Unfortunately, it appears that RIM never followed through on this. It's a pity...this was a huge missed opportunity for RIM. Now Apple will be the one to get credit for pioneering visual voicemail. In fact, visual voicemail will be the most practical and useful app on the iPhone; the rest will just be for fun stuff, although it will be impressive.

i use call wave and i was able to listen to my vmails on my 8800. with bis 2.3 wave is a supported format. i am not sure if it means anything that i have my vmails going to my gmail. i had my girl leave a test email and it sounded good.
