I tried with a coworker's 8300 (using the AT&T software release) and I got both icons! Time to kiss up to my AT&T Rep and have him get me another one for myself...

I guess it was just a matter of "waiting"...

Anyone care to go into detail? Steps 1 2 and 4 are vague.

steps 1,2, and 4 are only vague if you dont search each one.
But to put it simply.
1) go to options -> advanced -> service book -> delete each (provisioning doesnt delete)
2) take battery out
4) go to options -> advanced -> host routing table, highlight bold, click, register.

good luck.

Provisioning will delete if you do ALT + DEL

Default Cingular Blue

Does anyone know if this methodolgy will work for Cingular Blue i.e. I have an unlocked AT&T and using Cingular Blue. For some reason, the internet service book is not available to us Blue customers on AT&T.

Ok - I'm retarded. Just bought an Unlocked ATT 8300. I have T-mobile. And I am technically inept.

The above did not work for me with the ATT OS. I needed the O2 OS for it to work...

CONFIRMED. YOU NEED TO INSTALL O2's OS.

After wiping with JL_Cmder and installed O2's OS the above TOTALLY worked.

Got my Curve yesterday. The first thing I did was install the O2 version of the OS. I didn't even have to wipe the thing...just installed it and downgraded to that OS,with the modified blackberry.alx and platform.alx files. I booted it up, punched in my unlock code, went to the Tmo BIS website and changed my pin and imei, sent down my service books, and VOILA! 2 browsers and all my mail, and we are off to the races!!!!!

sjsilverman, What? Are you serious about that? it is work and still running O2 with T-mobile data plan after you loaded it and intalled it from O2 os?!

I can confirm this. I did the exact same thing last night and I immediately got my BB browser, T-Zones, and both of my e-mail accounts. No deleting service books and rebooting, etc required.

I've got mine (BIS) working (email wise). Except I cleaned out the AT&T codes from the APN after I had the inernet working - I put in wap.voicestream.net - thinking it might help. Now my browser (berry411 or Tzones) will not connect.

Anyone have an idea what I did wrong?
