Im in southern CT, right outside New Haven which is fairly large city with plenty of coverage for multiple carriers, my ofice has full siganl all day, aside from the bouncing signal bar problem (for another forum)...

I have a perfect signal at my office, shat at my house, decent during my daily travels. I spend a lot of time on the phone and lots of email. some internet, constantly referring to calendar and address book. Does anyone think a larger battery will be available? Given the way the battery cover fits in, I'm not optomistic about a bigger battery.

From my experience, 8830 battery life is below average at best. I am a seasoned 8703 user, both with standard battery and the extended battery. I would say that the 8830 is at least 1/3 worse that my 8703, both with standard batteries. My usage consists of about 1-2 hours of voice use, 150 emails received daily, about 25-50 replies or new emails, 50+ sms, web browsing and pretty active BB messenger use.
The 8703 with a standard battery could keep up with this usage, but I had to charge daily. Sometimes after a very active day it would go to low battery late in the evening. With the extended battery it was a dream! That thing could go for 2+ days... I LOVED it!!! I never worried about my battery.
The 8830 under the same usage is really struggling battery wise. Right now at 5pm it is at 30% and I know it wont make it much longer. I have also found that the power levels are not linear. The upper 50% has MUCH more power than the lower 50%.
I will either need to buy another battery (which is a pain to keep charged and have to change, epecially with the way the 8830 battery door is) or I will have to wait for an extended battery. I won't care at all if it sticks out the back.
I still have my 8703 and may have to go back to it if the battery issue doesn't improve somehow. I love the trackball, but it isn't much good when the device is dead!
I'm not sure how everyone is saying the battery is great. My experiece is exactly the opposite. JMHO...

I have a green battery too. I didn't get past 3:00 on either of my first two full days. I love all the features, annoyed by a few small things. I would definitely keep this if not for the battery life, but now it's going to be a tough decision

I'm in NYC and the battery life on my Cingy 8800 is great. I go through about 100 emails/day, an hour or so conversation, bluetooth on all day and calendar/address book views...and of course, TeleNav 5.1. My battery lasts 48 hours before I hit the red zone., Not bad!

yeah my 8800c easily gets me 2 days with moderate useage. about 25-50 emails a day with about 1-2 hours talk time per day and just a little newsclip action in between.

Not sure what to say. I am only thinking the battery is good because I came from the Q. I do a hell of a lot more on this device than the Q and the battery lasts longer. I will definitely be buying an extended battery as well.

If you guys have not already done so complete a hard reset, that fixed mine and many others battery issues completely.

I've got the same problem with my 8830. 12 hours with only a couple short phone calls and about 60 SMS messages and about 15% left. This could be a deal killer for me : ( Maybe, just maybe this is why the GPS is disabled too!
