Go to your Profiles, highlight the active profile and click to EDIT (or scroll down to advanced), look for SMS, click to edit. Make sure you change for IN HOLSTER and for OUT OF HOLSTER.

You are welcome, wapunga. Glad it worked. The profile settings are GREAT for personalizing your phone. I have different message types (SMS, PIN, email, phone, etc.) all set differently, it keeps my world rocking...

One thing to add to this.
You can make profiles specifically for any contact you have on the BlackBerry.
It's useful for say, when you're wife is calling or emailing you, or your boss, etc etc. This way I know who it is without even looking at my BlackBerry. The chime will let me know
It's also very useful for work (Ie. Distrubution lists, etc).

I know it's possible to create custom ringtones for contacts, but I wasn't aware you could create custom e-mail or txt message tones.

Please explain how to do this!!! Coming from a Moto V3, I could set a ringtone for everyone and whenever they would text or call me, it would use that specific tone. I need the ability to pick and choose who to talk to based off of their individual tones.

If you are using one of the sleeper holsters, u can have it set to just vibrate while in the holster or set it to a louder tone so u can hear it better.

This, to me, is one of the coolest features of my BB. I have my "normal" profile set up so when it's in my holster (one with a sleeper magnet) all the alerts are vibrations, and when it's out of the holster, all the alerts are audible. When I go to work, as long as my phone is in my holster, I know it will always be quiet. I never have to check to make sure I'm on vibrate. Yet, when I get home, and take my phone out of the holster & set it on the counter, I don't have to remember to switch to a profile with audible alerts. The phone knows it's out of it's holster and will now use the "out of holster" settings. I don't miss calls or messages due to the phone vibrating on the counter & me not hearing it. To me, this is just awesome, and makes using my BB even more "mindless" which is what I want from my phone.
