Default International Calling: Please help

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys... I just recently setup a BES and approx 65 BB Sprint 8703e's for some of our corp exec's. Everything is going great, email works etc. Well one of my higher level exec's is traveling to Italy in two weeks and wants to know if he will be able to use his 8703 over there. I spoke with my Sprint rep and he told me that the 8703 is not an international phone and I would need to buy the 8800 to make a call when out of the country..

So you tell me, 8703 no good outside of the US? Will I need to purchase the new 8800 model for this purpose? Any help is always appreciated, I know I'm in good hands

Thanks in advance...

You need a GSM device for international use. The 8703e is a CDMA device and the 8800 is a GSM device. Yes, you will need the 8800.

You could get a 8700 from tmbl or cing and I believe that these are tri-band phones you could have a pay as you go and cancel it when the exec is back.

Is the 8800 available on the Sprint network? If not, why would a Sprint rep recommend it? I don't think any Sprint blackberry device is going to work in Italy. You're probably going to have to use a different carrier (a GSM carrier).
