Default bluetooth vs usb

Please Login to Remove!

Right now, I have my 8100 hook up to my computer using the USB. I use it mostly for the Internet.

I know you can hook it up using bluetooth instead of using the USB.

I am wondering if there's a different of speed if you hook it up using bluetooth? Or is the speed is about the same?

The reason I am asking this, several months ago, I try to do it with my old 8100 and use my old laptop computer. I went though lots of trouble to get it to work without success.

Now since I have a new laptop which I got few months ago and a new 8100 white, I wondering if there's a different in speed before I try this again.

Default huge difference

Max Burst speed of bluetooth is 460kbps, usb 2.0 bursts WELL over that, and averages higher than 460kbps, so if you are using it for a tethered access to the internet on your laptop....bluetooth will be SSSSLLLLOOOOWWWW...

just my 0.02

How fast is EDGE exactly? I mean if its slower than the avg speed of bluetooth then it doesn't matter does it.

I am not sure of the speeds of EDGE, I know from an EVDO standpoint, it's like dialup vs highspeed

Hope someone else can clue you in on the avg and burst speeds of EDGE

I heard the Edge is around 128k. Right now I am connected at 115.2k.

Thanks for the answer. I guess I will just stick with the USB.
