Default 4gb microSD SDHC compatible with 83XX?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey ya'll,

Just wondering if any of you knew if the 83XX will be compatible with this => SanDisk | Products | Memory Cards | microSD Cards ? I bumped a post in the 8100 section about Pearl compatibility, but do any of you know if 83XX will be one of the first devices to adopt SDHC compatibillity, or is this simply a software issue, much like 2gb compatibility was with the Pearl? It'd be nice to have an 83XX with 4gb, whenever that debuts.

So...Did we ever get an answer on whether these cards will be supported?

Also, anyone have any ideas when they will be available?

Default A Definite "Maybe" :)

According to the product page at at&t, it says "MicroSD(TM) expansion card slot - add up to 2 GB memory"

http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/cell-phone-details/?device=BlackBerry%C2%AE+Curve&q_sku=sku970148

Now, does it say that because 2 GB is currently the largest card on the market, or because of device limitation?

According to the product page at RIM, it says "The BlackBerry 8300 accepts microSD cards; the amount of storage is determined by card capacity."

BlackBerry® Curve™ | Specifications.

Now this seems to imply that 4 GB (or even 8 GB when available) will work. I would think if 2 GB was the maximum, this asterisk would have been stating the limit, rather than basically saying the maximum is what is put in the phone.

Maybe someone has come across another piece of documentation that unequivocally states 4 GB and higher are compatible...

YES THEY are. ANY IDEA where to get them. I can't find them anywhere. I heard a rumor Verizon bought out a huge shipment from Sandisk or one of the other makers and selling them for $130(a rip if you ask me)

You can load your media onto a microSD card up to 4GB—yes, that's 4GB. I confirmed this with a SanDisk card and it worked without a hitch. The onboard MP3 player is better than the ones on earlier BlackBerrys, as it shows a list of songs with title, length, artist, and genre information attached to each song. And you can play music by artist, album, or genre. Although videos look sharp and sound pleasing,

Was in staples, best buy, circuit city and cingular/ATT...only work about the 4bg microsd from someone at one of the bstorse was possibly tigerdirect.com, where I didn't find one available.

I can't see why it wouldn't support a 4gb microsd card, afterall, the BB site does say that the card determines storage capacity. After spending money on the 2gb I wish I had waited to find a 4gb because I must get one! I'm overloading the thing with music and videos!

There's a thread on pinstack discussing this... PCMag tested and 4GB DOES work within the 8300. There's also a link to where you can buy a 4GB SanDisk one off the Verizon accessories site for $100.

Hope this helps.

hmmm interesting....I may see if any local verizon stores have it in stock to buy.

SANdisk is different than SCANdisk I'm guessing? I've read some things on SANdisk and thought it was a typo!

I'm just passing along what I read on pinstack - it's been tested that the 4GB card works... only you can decide if you want to purchase one.

Well, I ran back to another verizon and they said that it's a different price online and that they wouldn't match the price in the store.

I may return my 2gb to best buy, erase all the stuff off of it, as they said I could return it...and possibly order the one from verizon. Who knows.
