Default 8800 -- want inbox as default when powering up

Please Login to Remove!

Hello - hopefully this is an easy - but not too stupid - a question. I have been playing around for hours and I give up. My ancient blackberry could do this so I know the 8800 must have the ability to be set up. What I want is when I power up and click on the message icon - I want to have the 'inbox' displayed -- with both unread and read mail. Right now it brings up something else and i have to 'view folder' to get 'inbox.' Any suggestions???

Mine goes directly to the Inbox when I go to Message and all my other blackberries do the same. Not sure why yours does this?

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

When you say "it brings up something else" would you share what that "something else" is that happens?

Default 8800 inbox as default folder

Well....thanks for all the comments -- I feel slightly better that it's not quickly answered. This is my 3rd blackberry and I've never had this issue before either.

Ok...best I can describe -- under normal circumstances - when you open a folder it will say the folder's name near the top of the page (ie 'inbox'). When I open my message icon on this 8800 there is no designation at the top so I have no idea what it really is ("blackhole"). It appears to be a mix of read and unread mail. Some of it I had already moved to other folders (while on laptop in outlook) but it still remains sitting in the blackhole. The blackhole will let me delete some messages but not others. The blackhole will let me move some of the mail to folders but not all.

The more I type this - the more I realize how nuts I must sound.

I can go to 'inbox' as a 'view folder' but when i re-enter message icon I'm back to blackhole.

The bottomline is I really don't care about the blackhole except that it's controlling my life... ooops, I meant my blackberry. What I want to do is 'set-up' a default that the inbox is the folder that is opened from icon.

Help??!!!

Thanks,
Velvet

This is gonna sound stupid, but are you sure you're clicking the correct icon for Messages? You sure it isn't the Saved Messages icon? That's all I can think of, it's always defaulted to the Inbox for me.

Well, I'm seeing the same issue .... in the messages folder, when I select "View Folder" it defaults to "Browser Messages", then I have to select "mailbox" and then select "Expand " and then scroll down and select "Inbox" ......

this is a real PITA, so if anyone has a fix I'm really interested

Hello,

I have Spanish software for my 8800 with BES, but think this trouble is solved as follows:

(translation, sorry for mistakes)

-BB desktop

-Click "Messages" (the first one) icon

-Push "Menu" key

-Select "Options" (or "config", I don't know English version)

-Select "Inbox tray SMS messages and emails" (is the last option on menu)

There are 3 options: "Controlled matter", "Combined" and "Separated" (or
"Splitted"). Select the first one: "Controlled matter"

If not, check with the 2 options remaining.

Hope this info may help you.

Best regards from Spain.
