Cingular doesn't offer insurance on many of its smart phones!!!

Check there are companies that will insure it at a very reasonable price and with no deductible. Also check with homeowners policy as well as auto policy some companies will let you add a rider to the policy for the smartphone and again at a good price

Out of all the cell phones I have owned, likely over 100, I have never had reason to file a claim. I do not think it is worth the cost no matter how cheap.

There are so many exclusions it simply is not worth the bother. So many people have ripped off or tried to rip off the insurance companies they have taken steps to protect themselves or got out of the business. Can't blame them.

In short, I hate insurance, one of my largest expenses due to me being in business for myself! Not one claim on anything in 5-7 years and it goes up every year.

I too have personally never had to file a claim for phone, car or home only on healthcare and that was typical checkups except for one time when I had a heart issue that eneded up not being a heart issue thank goodness for insurance then! Currently I have no insurance on my BB but hey I have TMO and can buy on Ebay or here a good condition if not new BB for a very reasonable price

Never had insurance either. Should anything happen to my 8800 I still have my old trusty 7290 ready to go. Worse comes to worse any 8800 mishap gives me a good reason to try the 8300 ;)

...agree, if you are using the 72xx no worries as that thing is safe for Iraq.

I agree also that with these 3P insurers there is a good chance that when something happens to where you need to file a claim, it is going to be quite a process as they will do everything they can to not pay on it. There has to be reason Cingular is not dealing with them anymore.

Insure through a third party if you really want/need it. Cingular does not insure any smartphones.

Not all policies are scams. There are providers that do provide proper coverage but as usual, caveat emptor -- read the fine print.

Hrmmmnnnnn... Looks like I'm the oddball here. But I have two teen daughters that take their phones to school and often loose or ? them. Anyhow I use the No excuses insurance from Verizon and have saved considerable monies.

Consider 7250 on eBay = 60 to 100 US then maybe not. But 87xx 3-400 US and surely more for the 83xx and 88xx and one loss/drop/theft would over compensate for the cost of insurance.
