The answer is no - it will not work on the 8700. Asked and answered before in one of the forums (search is a wonderful thing - quite a few posts on the v4.2 o/s for the 8700 series).

There is a 4.2 o/s under development for the 8700 that is still in testing. Hold tight for that one.
