I dont know what the story is - I have tried changing the screens option back and forth but my screen still shuts off after not even 5 secs after i stop scrolling or typing something. I changed the screen options but nothing
any idea what the problem may be?

What OS are you running? The latest one from Cingular seems to have this issue.

I never had a problem with the backlight until the latest cingular upgrade also. So far they don't have a fix

Try settings/options/screen-keyboard
Check to see if the auto backlight option is on. If not set it to on.

Reading other BB forums. this change has worked for some with the cingular OS update.

so far it seem to be working on mine... I hope.

I have the same problem. I'll put it in Quiet profile when in a meeting. After the meeting I'll put it in normal. That is when I have this problem. I just reboot. All is fine after reboot.
