Default Latency...8800 vs 8700c

Please Login to Remove!

has anyone else noticed/been bothered by, the amount of latency in the UI of the 8800. For example simple tasks such as typing into memopad are no longer instant. For those of you with both an 8700c and an 8800 please let me know if you are seeing the same results. Pull up memopad on both and type. Memopad and the homescreen's latency are the most noticeable. I dont know too much about the innerworkings of the blackberry os, but I would bet this is something in its scheduler

I agree that the 8800 could use slightly more power. If you are going to make this post, you need to ask people to have the same programs open. Which programs did you have open. I don't get MP latency but there is some home screen latency.

I agree, my 8700 is more responsive than my 8800. I never saw the hourglass on my 8700. I see it all the time with my 8800.

You should not be seeing the hourglass all the time on your 8800. You got to have alot running in the background or you have something wrong with the unit. I have never seen the hourglass after the 8800 was booted.

I've also noticed a slight lag in the 8800 vs. the 8700g. This is a comparison after a complete wipe on both devices with nothing else installed.

This is one of m only MAJOR gripes with this phone. The other day I was playing break out with nothing running in the background and couldnt get past the 4th level because it started pausing with the hour glass every hit of the ball.

I notice this also sometimes when I type an email really fast I will get an hour glass.

I have never experienced anything like this on my 8700, I dont know why its a problem on the 8800 =(.

I need this fixed, a camera, and 3g and this is a dream device =).

Hey I've got no lag at all. And I've got a camera and 3g on my 8800. Wait a minute. It's not an 8800. It's a Blackjack. Whoops! Sorry.

I tried the Blackjack and found it much slower then the 8800. At the speed I typed it would skip letters You could not give me a blackjack.

Interesting cause I am not getting hourglasses, but I do notice delays in app switching and response to some menu items. IMO all the new features are worth the trade off.

Haha. That is so true, I hated the blackjack! I went from a 8700 to the pearl, to the blackjack and than back to my 8700. I never understood what the hype was about with the blackjack. I hated the fact that the phone wouldn't pick up every letter, but rather every other letter. And please don't get me started on the interface (I hate windows phones!) and the great battery life (not!). I pray for anyone that has a blackjack out there, I am a crackberry addict for life!

i am having lagging issues too. Simple things like 'mark prior opened', 'delete prior' or saved searches take much longer than my 8700, sometimes 3 times as long. i got rid of my 8800 and went back to the 8700

Good for you. I thought that my 7200 was much better than the clunky fat 8700. You might consider going back to the 7290.

To the dude with the Blackjack...

Those bad boys use so much battery you probably had to change to the backup during that post.

I've noticed the same, plus an equal amount of latency on the default Cingular theme home screen.
