It may not have been a retail store, I'm not sure. But it pisses me off either way.

sounds like you went to just an authorized dealer. They can do as they wish. We have them at the malls around here and I would steer clear just from the looks of the guy behind the counter!

Who do you work for, because I work for AT&T residential service and we get a premier discount, but being in San Diego, no one is preselling, and I'm trying to see whatm kind of discount I would get and when you get a discount, what price are they basing it on, the w/o contract or list price, because the list price is always something ridiculous i.e. the 8525 is listed at like 1126 something ridiculous and we get 60% off that which is still 400, so if you can shed some light thanks in advance

Thanks LLC calling the store as I type, now I just need to find a store in Atlanta that has a Jawbone headset.

*UPDATE*
Spoke to sale rep in the Cascade store here in Atlanta and he told me he has three in stock, BUT he won't sale them without a contract renewal. That sucks!

The woman asked me if it was for a new contract, and I told her it was an existing line, but a new blackberry data plan. She looked up my number in their system, and then she went to the back room When she returned she told me they were all sold out. I responded that I had just called and was told they were in. We argued for a bit, until I asked to see a manager. He was on a conference call, so I siad I would wait. About 20 minutes later he comes out and I tell him what I was told, etc. He finally admitted that they did have some in stock but it they would sell to new cingular accounts ONLY. I was pretty mad. I mean, I've been a loyal cingular customer for a long time. I give them a lot of money, and I was going to be buying the phone for FULL RETAIL. Still, he would not budge. I told him that if that was cingular's policy, I thought it was pretty crappy to do to their existing customers. But I was more mad that I was being lied to in the first place. I may hold out and wait for tmobile to release theirs and just switch carriers. Anyone else have this problem with trying to buy an 8800?
I had a similar experience on the phone. I think I called a 5th Ave store and after asking if they had the 8800 in stock, the woman on the phone immediately asked me if I currently have a contract with Cingular and I said yes and she said they won't be available until next week. Before getting off the phone with her, I asked her why did she ask me if I had a contract and she paused and said "because there is a pricing difference"... ha.

Cingular called about 30 minuts ago and I picked my 8800 up. Nice screen and much better build quality than my 8700c! Syncing and getting on the network.

I just called that store and the guy told me he can't sell them till the 21st. He only got 5 in and one's being used as the demo phone. He said it's first come, first serve Wed morning at 10am. I hate dealing with Cingular stores!

I called this morning and left my name for when they get them in. I had a few stores call me back today.
