New to this bb thing, so would greatly appreciate your help.

How in the world do i access internet, or specific webpages with my BB. For instance to download ringtones (by the way, if you do not know how, would there be another way for me to install ringtones to my phone without accessing internet FROM my BB...for instance installing ringtones from Mobile41.com)

My BB is unlocked, and i tried configuring it to access internet or see web pages, but no can do....Can anyone help....

There are several ways to download ringtones to your BB. On a ringtone site you they may give you the option to send it to your phone number thus saving it that way, or you can down load it to your desktop and use DM to put it in your BB.

If you have a BB plan on TMO and you put a Cingy sim without a BB plan you may not have web access with the Cingy sim like you would with the TMO sim.

You must have a BlackBerry Data Plan in order to use the Internet, e-mail, IM or pretty much anything except for Voice and SMS/Text. No data at all without a specific BlackBerry Data Plan.

I see....No Data plan = No internet = edge value=0.
I was not aware of that. My carrier is Fido, owned by Rogers in Canada. Rogers offers data plans on BB, but no fido, figured if i had it unlocked, i would get internet, but no enterprise email stuff...i see that it does not work that way.

Well thank you for your help, greatly appreciate it. As for the ringtones, mobile41.com does not allow you to save it...it's in quicktime mode. If you know how, please share.

I guess i'll have to wait till march to switch to Rogers...in march we, in the great land of Canada (emphasize on sarcasm), we get number portability....only 2yrs after states!!

I'm running OperaMini as Browser, it has a diferent configuration than BB Browser, I haven't a data plan because Digitel Tim in Venezuela doesn't offers although I Set Up it in the Operamini, download it at the operamini site
Configure APN in Options/Advanced Options/TCP on you Black Berry, ask you provider about Acces Point

But how am i suppose to download operamini if i can't get access to internet with BB...

The APN has been setup by my service provider...but still...it's not working for some reason...no browser access

Download it as PC download option in the operamini site, install it with Desktop Manager/Application loader, via USB

Which service did you use to unlock your Pearl / how much ? Looking to unlock my Pearl ( Rogers) but not prepared to pay the requested C$150 to do so. I may have a few bucks for you for the solution - if you have it.

This should all be done for free .... dam carrier holding you hostage to rape you on the roaming charges.
