Question 8100 Theme Tweaking

Please Login to Remove!

Hey does anyone know if there is anyway you can alter the themes on the T-Mobile 8100? For example, I like the Dimension Today theme, but I want to change the font color and size (like on the home screen, your messages and calendar are both yellow, and perhaps I'd want them to be...let's say red), and I'd also like my menu to be set up like the T-Mobile Zen (vertical icons in a pop-up sorta view) as opposed to the classic BB view. I've been fooling around with it and have only been able to change my home screen and the font size and style of the menus. Are my desires attainable? Anyone know? I'm fairly computer literate and have the BB pretty figured out (at least as figured out as I'd like it to be ) and any help is appreciated.

I know the theme selection for the 8100 is still pretty scant, but I'd like to know if anyone knows any tricks or anything to make it more my style.
(I know, my screen name is outdated. Oops!)

I believe the only way to do this would be to actually re-write the theme, or create a new one all together. The theme is what it is, and that's why there are different ones. If we could change these things, then there would only be one theme and we would customize it the way we wanted.

Sorry, I know it's not the answer you wanted.

Hey no big deal. Thanks for your input. I guess I'll just have to wait for someone to start writing 8100 themes and until then I'll stick with the Zen theme. Thanks!!

There are applications available to make up themes for the 7100 & 8100 series BBs, but not yet for the 8100. Soon we hope.

I think real 8100 does not use the standard Plazmic theme engine so is the delay for theme developers to get their hands.

A good wallpaper will spicen things up for you until you can get the themes re-written for you.

Yep, that's exactly what I have done. I have some pictures I emailed to myself (since I haven't set up the media card yet ) that I've saved to the device and use that with the T-Mobile Zen theme. It's the best I can do. I don't like the top and bottom of the screen being white but eh, what can you do?

I guess I'll just have to sit tight and wait for new themes to come out. Thanks everyone for your help!

you can use this picture re-sizer to get rid of the white spaces on the top and bottom.....just change whatever picture you want to the "pearls" screen size of 240 pixels X 260 pixels........this is what I do and I have tons of wallpapers that I have made to choose from. Hope this helps

I have a quick question, some 7100 apps runs pretty good on the Pearl so I wonder if 7100 themes would work on the 8100 ?

Have you ever noticed that different themes do the message icons differently?

For example... one theme I have has one icon for all messages. Another theme has an icon for all messages, then an individual icon for each e-mail account. Then another theme has an all messages, individual icons for each account, and then another individual icon for SMS messages.

I'd really like to know how to make it have an individual icon for SMS. I know you can hit ALT+S in the message screen to filter it out, but it would just be more convenient that way.

Plazmic should be releasing their CDK for 4.2 at some point sooner than later. It's in beta, to my knowledge.

The Plazmic CDK 4.2 has just been released. It will allow users to create Themes for 4.2. devices. If you want to create Themes for 4.1. devices, you'll have to use CDK 4.1.
