hi all, new to the forums here... hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

i've upgraded the OS successfully and i'm still looking for the changes... so far i've noticed (as stated in another post) that the battery life shows to be much better than when having the previous installed... another thing i've noticed is that the OS prompts for email/message deletion now automatically highlights "On Handheld" as opposed to "On Mailbox & Handheld", which is good for preventing deletion goofs i guess...

still checking for any differences, will post when i find any that is worth posting about...

Try going into Options / Advanced / Host Routing table
Click the menu button and select Register Now.

See if that helps.

Tried that, no luck. I can surf the web without a problem, just the WAP browser icon for Rogers doesn't work. Odd.

Do you need to re-enter the APN information for Rogers?

Well, I've never entered it before for previous OS upgrades but maybe. How do I update the APN?

I just noticed that the Calendar link from the BB Dimension Today Plus theme home page now goes to the correct day (today). It used to go to January 1st 1900 or something like that.

Not sure if it was from this or the last release.

So I take it that having 4.2.0.69 means I am not "current" anymore?

Anything I should look for with the .88 ?

Ok I have an interesting issue which have hightlighted in the attached shcreenshot ... I have attached it. I downloaded the 4.2.0.84 (Multilang) software, but you will seen when I got to safe the file it is A4/2/0/69_Cingular ... not the .71 version. I have tried this three times today ... each time with the same result. Am I missing a step or something else? Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

You're downloading the wrong version. Use the link in the first post of this thread to download the 4.2.0.88 package with .71.

You are right ... when you get to the down load section there are two updates listed ... the most recent the .71 is the first one (top) not the bottom one ... I just scanned quickly for the download link and clicked it ... (obviously not the first one I saw)

User Error ... Thanks for the heads up though!

I will have to try this out when I get home today. The reports about better battery life are encouraging to me. Thanks for posting the update. I'll post back if I notice any differences.

No offense to anyone, but, on day one after the upgrade, I find the reports of less battery consumption overstated. In fact, do't we initially hear the same thing whenever a new release comes out..."wow, it's so much faster, my battery lasts so much longer". I frankly can't see any difference in this version and .69 (or .64) at all.

If I use the desktop manager from 2 different pc's, then I'm assuming I need to do the same upgrade on both machines. Otherwise my old OS will get reloaded. Is this true?

Not unless you plan to install apps and things on your BB from both PC's. If you are only going to perform syncs and backups, you'll have no trouble at all. Use DM ver 4.2+ on both PC's.

Probably had it on the USB cable long enough to charge it and indicate 100%

I successfully installed the update on my T-Mobile Pearl. I lost some data, though, as it seems the backup didn't back up everything. All built in apps kept all their data, but some third party ones lost some. I think this has more to do with the Desktop Manager backup/restore than the update, but...

I did a backup before installing the update, and then restored from that file after.

Apps that lost settings/data:
Google Talk
Yak On
Berry 411 (lost addresses)
Berry Bloglines (had to log in again... browser cookie?)

Apps that didn't lose data:
5ud0ku (kept current game)
jmIrc
MidpSSH
Gmail

Anyone have any idea why the data from those apps above wouldn't get backed up or restored properly? It wasn't too big a deal to put it back in.

I did the upgrade and so far, the battery seems to be awesome. I didn't do the unlock all themes thing though. Is there a way for me to do it now, after the upgrade?

As I stated in the battery life post if you think a software update is somehow gonna make the same battery in the same pearl running the same stuff last longer you still believe in the tooth fairy! It cannot make any difference.
