I have an 8100 with a password enabled, so when i plugged it in, pocketmac told me I had to enable the password option in the settings. No problem, check teh box, enter my password, quit pocketmac, and restart. BAM, same error. I check the prefs, and my password is cleared out - the settings were lost.

Any ideas?

Ugh, now I see why everyone complains about pocketmac support - I've been waiting to hear from them for days now, and nothing in spite of their promise of a 24 hour turnaround.

So am I the only one with this problem? Anyone have a number for support for this product?

Mine has a password, and works flawlessly. Did you download the most recent version from the Blackberry website?

I have the same problem with PocketMac 4. It is not saving password into the Keychain.

I can not disable password becase it is a part of security policy that was pushed to my Blackerry 2 weeks ago.

I spent 2 days following RIM tech support suggestions. It did not help.

Same here. Any fix out there. Going to attempt reinstalling PM.

RIM's Blackberry Support ([email protected]) is not responding at all.

I had much better success with email to PocketMac Sales.

They suggested you fill out a support request directly to an engineer at:
www . pocketmacsupport . net

The fix is to create a keychain entry with both Name and Kind of:
BlackBerry User Password
and put your password in there. PM fails to create this entry sometimes...

I had to enter the password close pocket mac and restart it for it to use the password when i intialized a sync

drogers definitely had the right suggestion on this. I ran into the same problem. Despite setting the password and saving/quitting pocketmac sync manager. I kept getting a password failure when trying to sync.

I wonder if its a sequence issue. In my case, I got pocketmac synching working w/ my blackberry prior to a password being set on my device as a company policy push. That actually happened 4 or 5 days after I got started synching to my mac.

I followed drogers' advice and eventually got this working again. Just to expound a bit more, I made sure there were no old blackberry entries in keychain (there were not). I then created the following entry in keychain:

Attributes:

Name: BlackBerry User Password
Kind: BlackBerry User Password
Account: my OSX login name
Where: BlackBerry User Password

then set my password in keychain to the same value as the password to unlock my blackberry.

Hit the save button. Then edit the 2nd tab:

Access Control:

Selected Confirm Before allowing access
used the "add" button to add PocketMac SyncManager to "always allow access by these applications" by navigating to the directory path where PocketMac SyncManager is installed (in my case, under /Applications/PocketMac SyncManager)

hit the save button. Fired up pocketmac and synched to my blackberry. worked just fine after setting precisely the values above. I found that pocketmac was pretty finicky about what was filled in and what wasn't in my keychain config, so my suggestion would be to fill everything out and possibly even keep the same case sensitivity.
