Default Cingular needs 24/7 Customer Support

Please Login to Remove!

For some reason, my Blackberry Pearl is stuck in GSM mode. It will not go EDGE and I do not know why. My PTT does not work, and of course, Cingular would not be open on Sundays.

Any idea what could be causing it?

Few if any of the carriers offer 24/7 support anymore. People cost too much money! I turned my PTT off as it worked so badly.

Mine did this last week. Because of a random 'check' because I had unusual usage (which I called and told them I was going to have in advance BTW), they shut down all but my 'basic' service, until I called them and verified that it was indeed my usage.
Maybe not your problem, but sounds like you have been shut down on their end.

I'm sure you've tried these, but this is what I tell my users in this same situation. We have ~250 users, and see this problem about once a week from one of them.

* pull the battery.
* if that doesn't work, go into options | network, and change to manual selection. try all the various networks. if that doesn't work, set it back to automatic and pull the battery again, heh.

Pretty basic, but if these don't fix it, it's either some type of local network glitch or a problem on the users account (for example, international is not properly enabled and they're in Germany or wherever)

I tried this since I have been having the same problem but I don't have the option to change this. It just says 'cingular'.

they do have 24/7 support you just need the right number.i dont have it myself since I'm a t-mobile guy but i know for a fact they do have a specail number for 24/7 support its just a pain to get a hold of that number and its not for "regular" customers. Try looking over on boy genius forum it might be over there or do some google searching.

Unhappy the 24/7 support

as a worker in this queue, I will be the first to say the 24/7 support is for the former AT&T wireless accts. that cingular still has contracts for. Unless its an extremely easy issue (and no GPRS connection isn't always easy) its unlikely me or any of my teammates would take it. Sorry but 90% of us in this queue has no experience handling regular Cingular accts.

His problem is probably like mine, where something is wrong in the system (atleast I think) and only the wireless providers customer service reps can fix it.

Cingular should have CS and tech support until midnight, at least. The largest carrier in the nation and they shut down at 9 pm. Earlier then stores in the mall. Hopefully when at&t takes over they'll revamp cs.

TMO has 24/7 support. IMO all carriers need to have 24/7, this is one reason I switched away from Cingular years ago (and their crappy coverage).

LOL, for a T-Mo customer to say that Cingular has crappy coverage is funny!

Both my house and office are in what T-Mo says is "Excellent" coverage and yet I had to go outside to make or receive a call. T-Mo NEEDS 24/7 service!

T-Mo is for kids, like their SideKick with cartoon figures on the screen
