Default PocketMac 4.0 and Pearl - sync help

Please Login to Remove!

If I edit an entry in my address book on my Pearl and sync it, the updated changes in the phone are overwritten by address book!!

Try updating a number or adding a number to AN EXISTING entry on your pearl. See what happens after a 2-way sync. Hopefully this is a problem someone can help me fix.

I must be one of the lucky ones!

I just synched my 8100 for the third time, address book and iCal only, and all addresses updated in BOTH directions and iCal also updated in both directions. I set both for a "two-way" sync.

I know there are MANY who are having trouble with PM 4.0 and Macs, and I was VERY scared to use PM (I backed up my address book and iCal before the 1st sync), but it has been working so far.

One idea... I did have the dreaded "not enough USB power" error the 1st time I tried to sync, and I DID have some issues with disconnecting and non-sync UNTIL I plugged the Pearl into a POWERED USB HUB!! THAT seems to make a BIG difference!

Prior to syncing your device on pocketmac, click on the blackberry symbol (in pocketmac) and make sure that the advanced settings for your address book contacts are set to two way sync and not overwrite device. Hope that solves your problem

Haha tell me about it. I've just spent a whole day figuring out why my appointments after the 16th Nov 2006 are all shifted a day earlier than the ical dates when synced. Managed to solve the issue now though. Pocketmac synced like a beauty on my 8700 but looks like there's some problems with it on the pearl...

Amongst its other downsides I'm sure if the current release of PocketMac is 4.2 os ready? Then again it won't recognize my 8700c altogether...

Tell me about it. I spent hours last night trying to get the thing to work properly.

Whenever I edit an appointment on my Blackberry it creates a brand new one in iCal--so I have two of the same appointment. It also sets a notification for like -342342 minutes even though I have selected NONE. Weak!

In order to sync my address book I had to select overwrite, and also select the <<No Category>> item. Lame! It doesn't work using 2 way sync either...

4.0 is NOT ready for general release, it should be called a beta.

i disagree. beta software usually works with a few bugs and minor crashing.

this should be called: how to waste time and get no where

Im sorry, but this version of PocketMac sucks. Is it even possible to do a sync via bluetooth?? Whats the point of having BT if I gotta carry around a freakin usb cable??

Why dont you guys get this fixed already? Mac users do business stuff too you know.

even cable syncing is a disaster. i'm pretty sure EVERYONE is having problems. and if you think youre not, you're not looking close enough.

Yeah, I too am having the usb sync problems. It just blew me away that we cant use BT to sync. Almost NOTHING works, besides my address book. Even that if pretty half-a$$ed. None of my contacts pictures get transferred.

And when I plug the usb in, my 8100 doesnt show up on my desktop at all. Disk Utility doesnt even see it & thats saying something 'cause thats a pretty intensive utility app. I dont have a mini-sd card inserted, but still. Cant use the "browse device" under the Bluetooth File Exchange application. Blah blah blah.

I have tethered it to my MacBook using BT as a modem & transferred my contacts. Thats seriously ALL I can do with this thing right now until better support comes along. Grrrr
