Does anyone know how to turn off the shutter noise when taking pictures?

you can't turn it off. for privacy reasons. a work around is to play a tune on the mp3 player while taking pictures. either way there will be some sort of noise.

I never had this issue with the T-Mobile OS (at least I never noticed it)...Any one else have any ideas?

No luck there. regardless of theme, it all goes back to that same screen.

At this point, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the desktop and handheld software (reverting to the OEM TMo OS) from the computer and, even though the desktop manager shows "Disconnected", I can still run the app loader, but now, when trying to load back up the old OS, I get a "fatal error" about halfway through the OS loading up.

Additionally, I the "send" and "end" keys have ceased to function.

Locate and download the JL_CMDR program and totally wipe out your BlackBerry. The load must have failed.

thanks. That did it! Now I am not sure if I want to attempt the upgrade again. Maybe if I pay attention while installing this time...

does everyone elses' autodim feature constantly stay on? I am unfamiliar with it. The screen is always dim now, even when I'm using the device. Is this normal? I thought auto-dim was supposed to make the screen dim after a few seconds of non-use, but then turn off once you move the trackball or press a key.

No. Autodim senses low light condition and dims the screen accordingly. It is NOT a timing issue or anything like that. It does not respond (as you found out) to pressing a key or moving a trackwheel.

And for the life of me I can't figure out why RIM pulled that feature. I loved disabling the auto dim.

crap...autodim is still there... I never did notice it until I was using it in a bright area, then went to an area where the light was dim...then my BB dimmed too...
AND...since I never noticed it before...now that I know about it...darn it..it buggs the crap out of me.

i really despise autodim. it's probably the only thing keeping me back from installing this update. but i guess i better learn to love it when the tmo upgrade come out.

Can someone post a screenshot of the new themes? I didn't replace the .alx file so I haven't been able to see the new ones.

Replace the one that is found there after you install the new OS with the one from my original post. That will enable/load the other carrier's themes (Cingular, O2, Vodaphone, etc.) so you can use 'em...

I'm amazed at the number of people that do not read the whole post before asking questions or asking a question not related to this thread. The whole point of the search button is to find what your looking for not make threads longer and full of stuff that's not an issue of what we are talking about. Don't take the easy way out do some research about your pearl its not a regular phone!

hmmm... i appears that the autodim sensor is in the status indicator light. Hold the BBP close to the computer monitor... the autodim should turn off. Then place your finger over the status indicator and it will dim.... Maybe I can find a way to manually bypass this sensor
