Default How to connect BBPearl to Mac by bluetooth help

Please Login to Remove!

Hi folks. Former Treo 700p user now a Pearl fan
I was trying to attach my Pearl to my Macbook through the Bluetooth set up and when it asks me to put in the code from the macbook onto the phone it will not take it. Says pairing unsuccessful, make sure mobile phone is in range, turned on and discoverable.
Well it is on and under options says discoverable, and its facing right in front of the Macbook IR. What could i be doing wrong?
If someone could help would be appreciated. My Treo linked up easily on try one when I did that one amonth or so ago. WOnder why the BB prob. Seems other people have goten it to work. I realize we still need 4.0 of the software to come out before we can sync, but I dont need to sync now I just want to attach them together.

If someone could repsond with the *exact* steps for both phone setup and Bluetooth setup on the Macbook I would forever be grateful
Thanks in advance..
jason

From what i've found out is that the 8100 will only connect to the macbook pro if your sending or receiving files. Open the bluetooth preferences and see if your phone is listed if so, then scroll down and see if the status of the paired phone says yes.

not sure thats what I was asking. Ive noticed people mentioning that they have gotten the Pearl to connect to their Macbooks. Im asking for a tutorial (if I must use that word) on how to do that with teh phone and comp since I am not able to connect teh two as written above. Thansk for you response tho.
Anyone?

I actually did the pairing in reverse first - I selected Options > Set Up Bluetooth on the Pearl (my Powerbook was discoverable at the time) and initiated the pairing from the phone. I then (through a bit of confusion) wound up re-pairing with the phone from my powerbook, so it can be done.

Just so I'm clear, your Macbook is displaying a code for you to type in the phone, but when you type that code in the phone the pairing fails?

OK nevermind. Thanks for spurring on my brain. I got it. I wasnt hitting *enter* after entering the passcode on the phone. We're up and running. Wow. very nice. And the moden script under the *mac* link here on the forums works wonderfully

Glad you got it working. I've made that same error with my last three bluetooth phones.

The computer (assuming your using a mac) gives you the passcode to enter into the phone.
