I've looked everywhere, I can not get the 8100 to pair with my nokia 770.
They see eachother but the 770 says that there is no usable service on the nokia 8100. Does anyone have any thoughts on this issue. I'm trying to use the 770 to browse the Internet via 8100 and bluetooth.
The Nokia 770 and N800 are Internet Tablets (wikipedia.org). They do not have any cellular capabilities unless through Bluetooth, thus the issue is trying to connect it to certain phones and get it working. 8100 supports DUN, yet doesn't seem to get connected via this device.
Just posting incase someone has got it working, but if you don't have one of these devices, chances are there is nothing you can do.
Both Blackberry and T-Mobile customer service say tethering the Blackberry to the N800 and presumably the 770 is not supported. This is a big deal to me so I had to take the N800 back to Comp USA. Fortunately they gave me all my money back because nowhere does Nokia say the N800 won't tether to the Blackberry. Real bummer as I really liked the Nokia.
So did I, it was a fun little device but only if you can get online from anywhere. I only wanted it as a stepping stone to the new Apple offering in June, but oh well.
I also have a pearl that will not connect to my nokia 770 bummer. My nokia will connect to my mototola v360 and i can use the internet there but i would really like to use my pearl and the nokia 770 tablet.Do think there can be a firmware upgrade or something available?
The BlackBerry won't support any DUN unless you connect through Desktop Manager -- and since there is no version of DM available for Linux (770 uses Linux), there's no way to connect them.
I too bought one (Woot and Buy.com have been clearing them out cheaply) with the intention of tethering for use with my BlackBerry -- I'm pissed that RIM has crippled the Bluetooth capability on their phones -- I can understand if I was on an Enterprise service, but I'm not so I should be able to have full functionality !!!
Oh well, I hope that someone is able to figure out a workaround...
For those of you trying to pair your BlackBerry 8100 with your Nokia 770 I've found that if you use the BlackBerry 4.2.1.66 TIM Italy OS for the 8100 and IT OS 2007 on the 770 you can pair the two and surf through the BlackBerry!
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 6.8))
I have 2 phones on me, a pearl with tmobile and a htc apache with verizon. when my apache doesn't get reception, I can successfully pair the pearl to it through dun.
I just needed to make sure the AT command is correct.
