Default BES for users with different email address

Please Login to Remove!

I wasn't even sure how to search for this, so feel free to send arrows my way.

We have an subsidiary company (@subcompany) that is owned by our parent company (@parentcompany). We currently have a BES for the parent company and the sub company would like to get email via the BES.

My question is, is there any way for those employees (it's only 3 or 4 people) to be added to our BES (using Exchange) so that their email addresses will show as @subcompany? They are currently on their own Exchange server, so the only way to get them on our BES is to move their accounts to our Exchange server.....

I've recommended they get their own BES (which I would help set up), or they could use BIS....I guess.

Ideas? Arrows?

You should be able to do what you want. Is the subcompany mail servers part of a trusted domain? We don't use Exchange here, but we have a number of potential email address for some of our different sub companies.

Are we talking about a same Exchange Org?

If not ,its not possible, you either setup a new BES for the other Exchange Org or Move these users to your Exchange Org.

Being in different Windows domains does not matter as long as its the same Forest and the same Exchange Org

Ok, I did get it work so that I could add the user from the 'subcompany' server to my BES. I was able to activate a test device and can send and receive email (and it's pretty fast). The Calendar items are a little flaky, though.

When I send a Calendar appt to the test device, I never see the appt show up in the Messages app, but it will show up on the Calendar a few minutes after I send it. When I open the item on the Calendar, it appears to be accepted since when I click I don't have an option to Accept.

I did ping the subcompany exchange server from my BES and the avg ms is >=75ms.

Any ideas? The user is located in Canada, and I have asked that he ignore all of my 'TEST' emails and appts while I'm testing, so he's not accepting these to get them onthe calendar.

What is the Version of the Exchange System Manger on BES?
What are the Versions of the Exchange Servers in remote and local domain?
What permissions does the service account have on the Remote Exchange?
(Permissions on Mailbox stores and the Public Folder store")

Log on as a BES service account on a Desktop
Create a MAPI profile for a user on the remote exchange
Now create a meeting request and invite few users on the same exchange server.
Check and see if you can see their "Free Busy Time"?

(If you fail in any of th above re-visit you permissions")

Also do the regular :

Check the CDO.dll,mapi32.dll and emsmdb32.dll on the remote exchange and compare them to the BES

Ping time of 75ms is high, could cause delays, but not the behaviour you are describing.

I actually found the issue, and it was pretty simple.

The user I was testing is the president of the subcompany. He has an admin assistant who handles all of his mail and calendar appts. In his Outlook mailbox, he has her set up to receive all of his appts and she accepts or declines (or marks tentative if she's not sure) and the appts never hit his inbox - only his Calendar.

I then wiped the test device I have and activated it with another user who does not have an admin assistant. All tests worked great. The calendar appts seemed to process a little slower than email, but still pretty fast considering the crappy ping time between the BES and the other Exchange server.
