Default 7100 Reboot Application - "The BerryBoot"?

Please Login to Remove!

Ok all you 7100 owners you know how much of a pain it is too have to reboot your device by removing the battery....

Can someone develop an application that sole purpose is to force the 7100 to reboot? Kinda like writing some "bad" code that forces only the reboot of the 7100 with no lasting effects?

Call it the "BerryBoot"

Seems very simple and single purposed but worth it for every 7100 owner out there tired of removing the battery.....

Anyone?

thx

it would probably take the same amount (or more) effort to use an application to reboot it versus removing the back and the battery, no?

Actually I think less....I have a Krusell case that I have to remove each time to take out the battery....

And how much effort is it to scroll to an app and click on it to reboot...not much in my book and less messing with the battery cover etc...

I would vote for the three finger salute on the 7100!

You guys don't know about the "fast" reboot sequence?

Go into Calendar, then try to make a phone call... BAM - instant reboot. Works great for me. I don't think I had to install anything special for that...

There is a specific reason why you take the battery out... A software reboot is available already, built into the BlackBerry, but it doesnt work well and that is why you don't do it

All of the software reboots I have been through (like when you delete or add an application OTA) have worked fine and appear to go through the same sequence that removing the battery does.....the older BBs had hot key combinations to force a reboot...no different should it be on the 7100....

I actually worry about wearing down the plastic that holds the back cover on. If that happens the back will come off accidentally

It does sux... Funny the T-Mobile's initial documentation (which came from RIM) showed the sequence of three keys to perform a soft-reboot like on other devices. As I'm sure most familiar with this doc I am referring too know it doesn't work.

Here is something interesting though... on full keyboard devices, one can press the following sequence: ATL+nmll to change the signal meter from graphical bars to numbers. Out of boredom, I tried ATL+nmll and it didn’t work; however when I tried ATL + nnmll (from the Home Screen) and it worked!!! Notice the "nn" or double tap; seems the 7100 would translate the initial command attempt as ATL+bmll. I have many of old hidden key sequences from prior berry versions. I'm going to experiment and perhaps I'll even have something interesting to report back.

I'll post more as I hack them... Hopefully others can add some input here as well.

Default shortcut to phone address book

On the 7100T (I'll assume this would work on other models as well) hold down the SEND key at any screen for 4 seconds and you will be placed in to the phone address book. This shortcut is much better than entering the phone screen, pressing the wheel, scrolling to "Call From Address Book" and pressing the wheel again...

This same concept will work using the END key while in a call. Holding it for 4 seconds will end the current call and dump you into the phone address book.

enjoy...

You mean two 'N'

Think of it as Alt + BBMLL. Easier that way.

Also, Alt + LGLG shows you the event log.

Two NN's or two BB's... Either way it the same key! two taps equate to one N.

Excellent find on the LGLG!

NNMLL... 2 n's, 2 l's. Doubletap keys for shortcuts to get the 2nd letter on the 7100 kybd.

Hm. I can't replicate that -- what steps are you using?

My version is to enable key tones and set key rate high. Then just hold down the send button for 7 seconds, and voila! Instant reboot.
