Question Notes.ini not found in the default Domino folder

Please Login to Remove!

I am installing the BES 4.0 for Domino onto a Windows 2003 server running Lotus Notes R7 and just after installing MSDE the installer reports that it cannot locate the notes.ini even thought it is in the default folder and Lotus Notes is running perfectly on the server. Does anyone have any thoughts?

I don't believe BES 4.0 support Domino R7. Even though the Installation Guide says 6.5 and greater I don't think it include 7.

Yo can try adding the Domino program and data directory to the path.

If that doesn't work, try installing 6.5x, then upgrade to 7 after installing BES.

There is no mention of Domino 7 in the requirements -> http://www.blackberry.com/products/s.../sys_req.shtml

Safe to assume it's not officially supported, although it may still work.

I have just found out that you need to install BES 4.0.3 to support Domino R7 or you will get the notes.ini error.

Hello,

The SP3 is a full version ?
Because I'm in the same case (Domino R7, but Win2000 srv)

If I would like install Blackerry, I need the full version because it' not possible for me downgrade the Domino server :-/

The answer is YES

You can merge SP3 files on original installation directory. There is a error message, but the installation process run and the setup is complete.

On the Install Guide of the HF2 for Sp3, it does state support for 7.0. But why would you want to upgrade to 7.0 without 4.1? Why not upgrade to ND7.01 and BES 4.1? Kill 2 birds with one stone.

Change the registry Domino Version to point to 6 instead of 7 and run the install and change that value back to 7 before restarting you machine.

Default Check your registry settings...

I found when I had this error that I had previously moved the Domino server data directory, and the registry still pointed at the old value.

SOFTWARE\Lotus\Domino - DataPath...

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I have the same pb, and yet the registry is OK !!!!

I wonder if modifying the version number for Domino in the registry could hurt the Domino install ?

I'm also running Domino version 7.0.1

The problem is that I ALSO had this problem when I tried to upgrade to service pack 3 : the error message appearde also !!!

Any idea what could cause this error ?

Thanks

Should not hurt changing the registry... 4.0 installers are just dumb... I guess their software developer "hard coded" the reference to the registry to the Domino folder to "6"...

Default Change Domino version within the registry

Within regedit.exe, change the version number under HKLM\Software\Lotus\Domino\Version from "7" to "6". That should work.

upgrade to the latest Bes 4.0 Patches and then go to a domino upgrade. BES 4.0 works well with ND 7.02 FP1. There are problems with the plain 4.0
