Morning all

I am about to purchase a server for a 400 user bes. It will be working along side a exchange platform.

I am after you thoughts on specs any help would be great, so far thoughts are -

CPU - 3.0 Ghz

Ram - 2gb

Nic - Standard 10/100

Disk space - 80GB

Only question I have really is around disk space I think the 80 gb should be enough working on the basis of getting logs for 10 days.

Also can anyone give me a clue on what size I can expect the database to grow to with a 400 user bes. Will I need to purchase a sql licence or can I get away with sql ee 2005 giving me a max of 4gb.

Hi Dodge,

Your DB will be small. maybe a couple hundred MBs to a GB. Disk space is more than enough for BES and for "normal logging". I would increse the RAM if you are using SQL on the same box. 4 GB should do it. There's a spec page that RIM has in the introduction manual.

Those specs should be fine for a single instance 400 user BES. You can adjust your logging in the server configuration menu if you find that your logs are too large to give you 10 days worth.
