Default Phill- BBCorrector Help

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys, I'm a new Blackberry user and am having problems getting started with BBCorrector. These questions might sound entry level for you guys, but I'll really appreciate the help. I have installed BBCorrector and now i'm looking at a screen that says "BBCorrector Server URL". What do I put in there?? After that I can pick any user name and password?? And I also disabled MDS Proxy from reader earlier posts on user that also had to Disable MDS Proxy on the 7520. Please confirm that, that is correct. Thank you for you time and help.

Try this from an earlier post found via search.

Phil,

It's simple. Go to this address: http://bb.nexstanza.com/ and follow the instructions there. Create an account if you want custom dictionaries or use enter the URL for the "BBCorrector Server URL". The user name and password come for the account you create next.

Only disable the MDS Proxy IF you have a BES (with MDS of course) AND you are getting connection errors. Otherwise it's required.

Good luck

Default Frustration

I have read every post in this thread and while I see other posts with similar issues, I have yet to find a solution to my problem. I am trying to run this on an 8700c, Bharti 284 OS, BIS, Cingular orange. I downloaded BB Corrector OTA from post 66 of this thread and set up an account at Nextanza.com.

Here is my problem when I check the Disable MDS box I get the "could not open tunnel error". When I uncheck the box I get the "could not find a service book entry for IPPP".

I have tried both the regular and secure servers with and without username and password entered, but any combination generates the above errors.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Actually this is one feature of the BB that bugs me. It would be nice if we could do a hardware reset of some kind after installing apps without the need of having to pull out the battery....

Like Soapm says, do a check on the apn settings for cingular. It sounds like something along the lines of the apn setting as I've had a similar problem in the past with 3rd party apps and fixed it with the apn setting.

Made the suggested APN settings, but same results. As far as third party apps go, I have been able to use Google Mobile with my previous settings FWIW.

Can you run google maps now?
Try resetting your firewall but I doubt it will help. It sounds like you don't have 3rd party apps and will need to call Cing...

Any way to get the new client file up on the Sourceforge Site so others may easily download it OTA instead of returning and seaching through the forum?

What settings did you put in under TCP? I just installed this today and it works great! I am also using Bharti 4.1.0.284, BIS, Cingular Orange.

APN: wap.cingular
Username for APN: [email address] (be sure to enter in caps)
Password for APN: CINGULAR1 (be sure to enter in caps)

First I appreciate all the suggestions and ideas from everybody. I am trying every suggestion and rechecking all entries but, the results remain the same.

Regarding the user name for APN, if you could give me the exact syntax of the way it is entered I'd appreciate it. Also, which nextanza server are use using, are you entering user name and password for that server (in BBCorrector) and do you have "Disable MDS" checked or not?

Thanks again

Type it exactly as I listed it in my earlier post. I have the Disable MDS box checked. I have used both Nextstanza servers and use the secure one currently. You don't need a username and password unless you plan to use custom dictionaries. Also, call Cingular and make sure that they have the APN access enabled on your account. In the past you used to need to pay additional for this service, but it has since been included in the unlimited account. They won't support the third party app, but if you tell them that you need tcp/ip access, they now know what to do and will provision it on. I would say that if you have tried everyone's suggestions, the APN is not provisioned on to your account..............I experienced this problem at first, it's enough to drive you crazy!

Look at this thread for the history of the issue:
www"dot"blackberryforums"dot"com/showthread.php?t=15734&highlight=cingular+APN

Not enough posts to post links so replace the "dot"(s) above with a .

[QUOTE=DavidE]Did you give your 8700c a full reboot? That's usually needed (sometimes more than once) to have it show up. You might also check the MemoPad application to see if it shows up when you edit a memo.

DavidE

just installed it on my 8700 and had the same problem
reboot worked
thanks
seeing an issue with two missed spelled words that are next to each other
when i select the second one and choose suggest it removes the space between the two words
nice app though
thanks
