Why get the SBE BES? It is limited to 15 users. The other offer is for the Enterprise BES.

Default What are the Differences.

What are the differences between all the versions, aside from max number of users.

Full BES.
SME BES.
Free BES.

I can't seem to find any comparison charts at RIM/Blackberry sites.

Your full BES ships with a 20 user CAL, and you can extend that massivly and would probably only be restricted by you network bandwidth and hardware as there would come a time where you would have that many users you would start to notice latency!

Your SME BES ships with 5 users, and can be expanded to 15 in total.

Your FREE BES ships with 1 user, again to a max of 15 like the SBE version. I think it will take the same CAL's as the SBE will (5 user and 1 user denominations). Take the price of a 5 user CAL and compare it to the cost of an SBE BES - whichever is cheaper would be your best option (all about the finances)!!!!

Nobody has mentioned the best element yet. I now have a full version BES in my development evnironment, rather than having to use trial keys which need changing every 90 days.....great!!!!

Jibi,

I just checked my pricing guide and it lists a separate part number for SBE and Enterprise BES CAL's.

not saying that. just saying that per their KB Note, it says that with BES SME 4.1, you can use full-version CALs. i know they are separate products with separate pricing.

Thanks for the link jibi.

Does any one here think that 15 users max for SME is too small. I could see more like in the 25-50 range personaly. After all if a company is going to run a BES, they are more likely to have there own in house mail server and a all around network admin for this. We are still a Mid/Med sized company (500 employees), yet are forced to run full enterprise edition for only 17 users. Not much growth with Blackberries is expected around here for at least a few years.

After the last 2 years of discussions with our Finance department, we thought the same thing. Just this last week, we somewhat got the green light for deployment to potentially 500 more users. I took over the BES about 2 years ago with roughly 10 users, and we've since grown to over 220 or so currently. Needless to say, I'm happy about the unexpected growth.

Not that this is ethetical by any means, but has anyone signed up more than once? Not that having 10 or so SRPs will be of much good, but those individual user CALs could definitely serve a purpose... just not sure if it will accept the multiple individual CALs.

Anyhow, just wondering...

This is a smart move by them. BES kicks ass and once a few people get BB's, everyone wants one. And they'll still make money on the support plans for those who never go above 15 cals.
